To those who hate chrome so much, why did you go with a 1794 instead of a platinum, which has MUCH less chrome?

In my case, I wanted the seats when comparing to Platinum. Can't get that on the other trim options.

I have a '16 1794 -- now has black wheels and I Plastidipped black the chrome cup holder which drove me nuts. My truck silver so the chrome "matches" pretty well. If I change anything else it will be the headlights (blacker) and possibly the grille, though if I did that I'd have to go with a painted surround.

Mine is Smoked Mesquite. I debadged it. Changed the Door Handles and side view mirror covers. Looks a lot better and a helluva lot easier to wax.

In my case I've had three platinum tundras and wanted to get away from the black seats for once. But, I like the platinum outside better. Plus you cannot hey the platinum with the TRD off package.

That interior makes me think of this song.

I bought all the dechroming bits but am on the fence about it. I’m thinking about changing the front bumper caps to painted, front bumper center to unpainted black, and grill surround to paint matched, while retaining the chrome center. I’d then retain the chrome door handles and mirror caps. I have a TRD so no chrome 4x4 badge in the back, just the bed stickers.

Or dechrome everything and go Pro grill

I have 2019 Smoked Mesquite and plan to de-chrome the exterior. Not a big fan of chrome on the outside personally. did mirrors last week, have handles en-route and plan to do platinum grill with painted surround/bulge. The interior chrome I don't mind. Its a nice contrast to the browns and wood. Occasionally the sun will glare off a piece, but I'm in the PNW so its few and far between!

@DJFaninTN where did you get those badges? did you paint them? they look really clean. Nice work.

I’ve had my 1794 for two months now and I’ve done a few things to de-chrome it. First was the grill and headlights (way to much chrome up front). Next will be the mirror caps followed by new rims. I do like some chrome on certain colors but there was just too much for me.

Same... All black except 1794 badges, 4x4 on tailgate and got chrome rubbery letter inserts on tailgate. (In my mind just the needed info highlights) No changes inside.

What bumper do you have there? Does it interfere with the front camera?

ARB Summit If by front camera you mean the TSS radar that wasn't included in my setup (different countries, different regulations/requirements). If you actually referring to a front camera I have a Kenwood CMOS-230 Backup Camera mounted on the grille and connected to a Kenwood Excelon DDX9905S

Do you have to buy the whole new handle assemblies or is it just a cap? Mine has the smart handles on front doors, I’m assuming those will be pricey to color match?

Personally.. I [ we ] like the chrome, and we will leave it alone. The 1794 does have a good-looking interior and we like that also.

My 1794 brothas and sistas! Haha I’m glad so many of us are in the same boat. I’m getting some great ideas here. I have the mirror caps waiting to get put on and the grille is on backorder and should be here mid October (I hope). After that I really love the interior. That’s why we all bought them right? Like many have said the only chrome that bugs me is the cup holder surround and I have some ajt stuff on the way to help with that. The rest really doesn’t bother me. The leather is beautiful and I just couldn’t do black seats in the Colorado sun. Plus my dog would scratch the crap out of them and they would show wear much more quickly! Any of you guys have pictures of your interiors with chrome removed? I love these trucks!

I feel the same way. I did change out the mirror caps but I think I am going to leave everything else the same. I don't mind a little chrome. I am going to tint the windows and besides when it's sunny I am wearing sunglasses.

I'm going to go for the stock Platinum look for the exterior, keeping the 1794 interior. I will only do something about the specific interior chrome pieces that blind me.

I may even get Platinum badging for the outside!

Very nice! I am waiting on my platinum bumper.. I really like that blacked out 11794 badge that leaves just the copper exposed. Looked great!

That's basically my plan too. I have the grill assembly coming this weekend and bumper caps coming in a few weeks (had to get them painted). Then all that will be left is the badge, which for now will leave alone.

With some the chrome interior pieces, my challenge is I am not sure what to replace them with. Black doesn't really seem like it fits with the rest of the interior and they gray is a bit off from the other grays. Decisions, decisions...
