Replacement Brake Pads

    Afternoon Tundra towers/haulers,

    I’m about to swap out my brake pads and I do some towing for about 6-7 months out of the year (recreational camping) up and down the east coast.

    I was wondering if anyone had a preference for brake pads? Anti dust, life expectancy, etc.

    I replaced my rotors and pads with the power stop extreme truck and tow. Very happy with the drilled/slotted rotors performance and is a good price. I have only had them on for 3000 miles though.

    So, what I am hearing is one person likes OEM, one person likes the power stop extreme truck and tow setup, and one person saying that there is an issue with the power stop extreme truck and tow setup...

    I tow about a 6k lb boat, previous it was 4500lb roughly. I have 87k on stock brakes and been running larger sized tires since about 8k on the odo with 35s starting around 45k iirc. OE pads will get me to about 100k. I plan to replace with OE.

    There is a lot of different opinions on brakes and it all comes down to how they are being used. I would personally just stick with OE and keep on doing what your doing. Just make sure to bed them properly and you’ll be fine with how you use them.

    The OE are a great quality pad. They last a long time, brake well and leave very little brake dust. If the original pads worked well for you why try something else? The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

    I'm in the same situation as you except I tow a 18' boat most of the year and need new pads and rotors. After reading as much as I can I have decided just to stick with OEM rotors and OEM TRD PRO pads. I read were some people are have trouble with these aftermarket kits warping with low miles (like 36k or so) and I got around 82k on my stock so might as well stick to what has been working for me.
