This isn't even the worst one I've seen.

Super white, 2005-ish? (Cat eye) Chevy 2500.

Its got to have at least at 16 inch lift in the front, and a 4 inch drop in the back.

Hub spacers out the wazooooo. I'm talking like each outer edge of the tires is touching road paint at all times. Of course he has elected to install the remote controlled, color changing wheel lights that were somehow mounted BEHIND the actual rim. Not up in the wheel well like rock lights. Looks BoNkErS!

Color changing led headlights that he has set to "rotate" through the variety of colors. Very distracting, and illegal.



Anytime I see him he ALWAYS has his head lsung out the window so he can see the road. Doesn't matter if its hot, or cold. Rain, or shine. Heads out the window. Super practical.

Ditto. Managed to find mine on Craigslist that had a fair amount of rust, but not rotting, and within reach for the price. Knocked down the asking price by indicating the tb/wp needs replacement.

 

I never would have guessed that my lil 1st gen would come to the rescue, and my hood lights provide light for turn signal changing.

Once you know what to look for and read you can see through these smeggsliss scam liars descriptions. Every once in a while an honest person will openly say the truck has rust and post the actual picture of the rust and not some shot from way back looking from the passenger wheel towards the rear of truck shot.

 

I've never seen garbage like that before, this is really a thing? Is it national, or just limited to a specific area in one state?

That looks stupid as hell and impractical. If you want that, get hydraulics. One of my buddies lost a rear mount on his show truck while driving home from Daytona when I was younger and his rear passenger cylinder mount broke off when he pushed his truck up high to pancake it at a stoplight to turn heads. Looked almost like the 1st pic you posted, whole truck was leaning to the rear passenger side.

I wonder how helpful jacking the vehicle up is. Definitely or eh if you want?

 

Some may despise this but I'm actually thankful our trucks had such shitty factory frames, cause now I have a 7 year old from on a 20 year old truck. Think about it, even if we had quality frames they would still get pretty damn rusty after 20 years. +1 for frame recall

 

Without knowing which instructions you possess: When I installed my Hellwig7700, I did not jack up truck. Best thing to do is assemble everything on the floor and picture how it will install on the truck. Disassemble and install the extensions (loosely). Then install sway bar (loosely). Make sure the Mojo feels proper. Snug bolts/nuts to spec from top to bottom. 2 hours tops.

Seeing the bags of nuts and bolts without them assembled make the job look harder. Once you get the dry run accomplished it will all make sense.

Things I did that were not in instructions:

1) Installed grease on threaded rod before screwing down. Prevents future seize.

2) Spray painted all the nuts/bolts black afterwards.

3) Generously lubed the bushings and ferrules.

 

No wonder why people put hellwig rear swaybars on the 1st gens....THERE ISNT A FACTORY ONE TO BEGIN WITH! And I just realized that

 

Something comical i just thought of. My tundra is at 240k with original engine and transmission and running great. My dad's chevy has 150k with it's third engine just swapped in. First engine seized, second had a scored cylinder wall, and the current one burns coolant just like fuel.
Crazy. I still love that car though.

 

There was a rare factory rear sway bar on the 03. Very rare.

 

It's just crazy to me that you wouldn't have a factory one...

 

Everywhere in south FL where I live. One of the dorks that lives a couple houses down did that to his old durango and bent the axle

 

Am I remembering correctly that years ago you posted about there being no need for a rear sway bar? I thought I read that when researching?If so, what changed your mind?

 

One of our plumbers is out from a shoulder surgery, when he came home they found their water heater leaking, haven’t had hot water in two weeks. Some of the guys at the shop pitched in and got him the unit he wanted(he’s a plumber, he wanted the fancy shit of course) and put a comfort T in the master bathroom
Me and another guy went over and piped it in and got his family some hot showers going!



I’m not a “plumber” but I did all the soldering and piping. I tried to keep it clean.

 

I’d love to see that quote. In context, I already had the OEM front bar (rusted broken links and bar hanging) and was thinking about not reattaching it when having the front rebuilt. Had gotten used to boat like turns I guess? Shop guy talked me into it as the very small forum (at the time) here was mostly anti-sway bar. Once I decided to do it and felt the niceness again with it reattached, then I continued the journey on the rear bar. Think it was @Rex Kramer who recco’d the rear sway. Most of the 60+ reviewers were 1st Gen Tundra.

Most I’ve done off roading is beach driving. Some peet and dirt trails. I’d argue that a sway bar works well in anything on this truck but rock crawling which at that point I’d be in a Jeep. Is a rear sway necessary? No. Is it excellent on street driving? Yes. Keeps that inner tire down and stuck to road without spinning even with LSD.

I have been a big fan of installing a rear anti roll bar on all of my vehicles that don't have them since the late 1970's, the first Toyota truck that I installed a rear bar on was a 4WD T100, then my 4WD '02 Tundra and now my 2WD '07 Tundra.

 

Other than having the front end rebuilt I’d say adding the rear sway bar is second best ‘mod’ thus far. Thanks for the recco.
