2004 Tundra dash lights are not working

Hey everyone, so I have a 2004 tundra SR5 4x4, my dash lights and my climate control light have gone out and I cannot seem to fix them. I have checked all of the fuses, I have made sure none of the other exterior lights have gone out, I’ve even replaced all of the dash lights. I’m not sure what the issue is but it would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me figure this out

Is there a dimmer switch for the dash light, check that one. It happened to me once. It was turned all the way down.

I have checked the dimmer switch and it is indeed all the way turned up. This didn’t seem to fix the issue. Thank you for the suggestion though!

 

Maybe the dimmer is bad? Check for power at the switch if you’ve already checked all fuses

Are you sure that it's working properly?

I noticed the last time I pulled my dash when I unplugged the dimmer switch all the backlights went off on both Dash/Radio-HVAC bezel.

I'm not sure if the dimmer knobs are all the same for AC/DC, but I have an extra I'm willing to part with if they are the same.

 

Also, right now driving home(day light) i couldn’t actually see any lights at any dimmer setting, maybe revisit the issue when it’s darker out

don’t mind my switch I added for my subwoofer, that red wire also runs to my subwoofer. This is what the switch itself looks like

 

Would anyone happen to know the exact purpose for all three of the wires that run into the back of the dimmer switch. I’m wondering if I can just bypass it with a regular on/off switch

 

Should jump Green to White/Green to get full brightness. Before that check the Tail fuse under the dash.

I tried jumping those two wires together and it still did not work. Is there something I could be missing because I have checked all of the fuses

 

Also both the green and green/white wire are both hot. I’m not sure if that means anything but bridging the two wires together did not seem to do the trick. I’m wondering if there is something else I could be missing.

Which one is the clock? I thought it was plugged in?

 

Clock is in the center stack.

The green wire in your pic is what controls the illumination and the white/black at the back of the dimmer is the ground. I've attached part of the wiring diagram below for you.

 

I’m not sure which black/white wire you are referring to. Are you talking about the white/silver one? And is there really anyway to for sure know if the dimmer switch is the root of the issue?

 

W/B should be the 3rd wire on the dimmer. Here's the test for the dimmer.

I’ve heard multiple people have issues with lighting on the dash, because the clock wasn’t plugged in. Just spit ballin from my couch

 

Must be a fancy 05-06 thing. I love taking my eyes off the road and looking down by the floorboard to check the time.

Edit: OP has an 04. Now I'm confused too.

 

I’m not aware of any clock that is in the dash. I took a look and still couldn’t locate the center stack or the wire you were referring to. I want to take it to the dealership but I’m afraid they will charge me out the a$$ for it

 

If you have a multi tester set it to ohms and probe between the wires on the back of the dimmer and some bare steel under the dash. The one that goes to zero is the ground, if none do that then you've lost a ground point.

Clock is in the center just to the right below the temperature selector.

 

Thank you, I thought they were referring to a clock that would be located inside the dash. I do indeed have that clock below the climate control unit and it is operational. I tested the wires behind the dimmer switch and there is a solid ground

 

What should be my next step? Should I take it to the dealer?
