Had one just like it. Bought used with 80K miles and sold it at 233K miles to my nephew. Awesome truck. Loved that thing but didn't need the 9 person room anymore. Comfy seats and comfy ride. I miss it.

We just sold our 05, had 200k. Thoss Tahoe's would be one of the few other vehicles I'd drive other than my tundra

I have a hard time keeping up with this forum, how the hell is anyone keeping up with 12 different ones? Much less with Reddit as one, it's a fucking vortex you can get lost in for days on end.

The GMT800 platform was one of GM's shining accomplishments, marked improvement from the GMT400, and the last in a line of great trucks. I posted some pics of the amp install in my '03 a while back. Loved that truck! But my 1st gen has proven to be more reliable, more comfortable and better optioned by a mile.

Honestly, idk which one is more reliable.. the generation of Silverado and Tahoe's that ended in 2006 (I think) or the 1st gen tundra... the 5.3l vortec Is just as reliable as the 2uzfe (I think). And before we sold our 05 with 200k, I floored it a few times and drove it hard and the transmission had zero issues with it at all, the transmission seems to be almost on par with the a340e in my 01 tundra. The area where my tundra shines is everything else cosmetically inside and out looks way better and is still in factory shape besides my rattling window. I seriously would consider the Silverado or Tahoe's. One thing for sure is my 1st gen tundra feels way tighter and snappy then the chevys

I'm a GM guy from a GM family. I'll be the first to admit The Tundra is more reliable.

The Achilles heel of the GMT400 and 800 platforms wasn't the Vortec, GM's GenIII 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 were goddamn fabulous engines and still are. Great for retrofits! Killer for low-buck buildups. A great continuation of the SBC legacy.

The big issue was the 4l60e. It was complete and utter hot garbage. It can be made bullet-proof with two or three small mods, but GM didn't bother. The 4l80e was an improvement if you had it, but most didn't.

That said, as great as the GenIII platform was, I have yet to see one make it past 300k miles without a rebuild. I personally know two different people currently driving with 20-year-old Toyota 4.7L in their vehicle in excess of 400k miles on the clock.

It's a PAC NW thing, trust me. All their trucks sell for 25-40% above normal retail for some reason. I saw it time and time again during the 6mo period I was looking for my truck in 2018ish.

LSx, LQx, etc. The 6.0 LQ9 was a goddamn beast.

I dropped an LS1 out of a '01 Firebird WS6 with a 6spd T56 into my '68 stepside 10-15 years ago. Thread is still over on LS1 Tech somewhere (same username there).

I feel like the amount of 2nd gen guys posting in here lately, with unhelpful information, is at record highs. How do people keep making that same mistake? Anytime I've posted in the 3rd gen section I was 100% aware of it.

A lot of people bookmark the homepage: https://www.tundras.com/

It has a list of recently updated threads. People see the big bold blue title and decide "hur, I have an opinion on that, I think I'll post in that one!" They don't bother to look at the small non-bold line under it showing which forum it's in.

If you want to outwit the devil, it is extremely important that you don't give him advanced notice..Even if you only announce to yourself your intentions, the devil will know, because who do you think the devil is?

Just start up an Oil Change Interval Thread and start with 3k miles as the proper interval. I was bored one Sunday and Warred all day on one oil thread. But but 10k...

Been waiting to pounce on one of their Diff Oil Housing Leaking Threads, but its hard to mess with them after spending all that money and having a leak.

A good Topic thats for sure to get 378 posts responses is that you bought and sold your turd within a month because Chevy was better. :boink:

If it keeps happening they will eventually need to start paying @bmf4069 for his shooing. It's almost a full time job at this point.

Well, it’s about that time. Gonna start a new vehicle project in the spring and it’s gonna be a big change. Been contemplating it for years and finally gonna take the plunge.
