Everything has been fine until this past week my wife banged a travel coffee mug into cup holder surround and made a small nick where you can now see the chrome underneath. It’s very tiny, maybe 1/4 size of a grain of rice. Thinking about dabbing some matte black on a Q tip or something smaller and just touching up.

other than that everything else still holding up great

I know, I’ve read the tread and watched some YouTube vids. Seems there has been some issues with discoloration and a small gap being left along side the cup holder. Are these still issues? Btw, I did order vent covers, the shift gate cover, and the emblem overlay, just not sold on the shifter and cup holder pieces yet.

I just ordered the little cover for chrome around shift bezel from AJT. That’s the one part I was not comfortable breaking off to paint. $25 shipped will see how it looks.

I was going to leave that part but I’ve been driving my truck the past few days and sun is nailing that spot and RE directing back into my face. Very poor design

    *update*
Part just came in from AJT, installed in under a minute. Snapped right in and looks great with the rest of my matte black painted trim. No more chrome blinding me!

One more piece done. That grey shifter piece.

These were all removed and plastdipped. No issues yet

Next up will be an attempt at shift knob or replacing it

FYI, AJT is having a sale on their “chrome delete kit”. Pretty cool you can customize which parts you want / need, and pick different colors for each part as well. Ordered mine yesterday!

I saw that. Unfortunately, you can't delete all pieces, so the ones I already ordered for $40 would go to waste.

    Oh well.

What color is that? I like the look of that compared to mis-matched colors. What did you use? Spray paint?

Painted my cup holder trim last night. Turned out pretty good. Scuffed up the chrome with 600 grit sand paper, cleaned real well, then 3 coats of flat black and I think I did 2 coats of the matte clear coat. Also, I put the ajt designs shifter trim piece in over the chrome part. Snaps right in. Thinking I might paint the “brushed metal” plastic trim, but not sure if I want that much black there.

Do yourself a favor and mask off all of the area to the right of the gear indicators and paint it matte black as well. It was constantly reflecting the sun into my eyes.

I almost painted over the shift indicators as well. They're still blasting my eyes with a little glare, but for some reason I can't bring myself to do it. I'm trying to figure out a way to mask over the letters and symbols.

Pull it out, then you don't need to mask it. Mine is plastidipped.

Just be careful you sit drill to deep to break the weld like I did. I ended up drilling through and then has to patch with epoxy. It's good as new and you'd never know, but it took a bit longer to do in the end

Do any of my 1794 interior friends have pictures of the cup holder and shift surround blacked out? Want to see how it looks with the brown

I installed the shifter and cup holder trim a few weeks back. Very happy with the fit and finish. Looks much better than the chrome!

I used automotive PPG paint, I found a color code from Toyota that matched pretty good and then topped it with a semi clear also from PPG. I’m sure you could achieve similar results with good spray paint if needed.

First Mod I did to my truck the other day was installing a few things from AJT. I did the cup, gear shifter, vents and the steering wheel emblem. I’m pretty thrilled with most of it, very easy install except for the gear shifter piece can be a little tricky to remove. The only issue is,it does indeed leave a tiny gap on the cup holder area. This has been noted and I tried my best but because of the design I don’t think it’s possible not to end up with just a little spot.
