Good evening. I've owned a 2005 Tundra SR5 2wd (4 full door) since it was new. Giving it to my son this year for his 16th birthday wanted to give it a few updates. We wanted to change the old halogen bulbs to LEDs. Looking online I find tons of LED conversions for headlights and taillights on the 2006 model but not my 2005? Any suggestions or sites you've had good luck with?

Ok. That's a great start for bulbs. Maybe I should have clarified. We would like to change the whole lens assemblies? Maybe blacked out or just refreshed?? Any suggestions there

Whatever you do, don't just shove LED headlight bulbs into a standard (non-projector) housing. Oncoming drivers will thank you by not blinding your son in retaliation. It's the last thing a newer driver needs.

Actually, Mr. PHM has those katanas that just plug in iirc. Maybe he can chime in. Ahem, @Professional Hand Model

    2002 owner here.

I bought aftermarket new assys and installed them. For bulbs, my first set of Katanas $49 (had fans for cooling) lasted about 14 months before one went ‘dim’ probably due to Daytime Running Mode burning them all the time.

Since then I’ve disconnected the DRL Mode and installed new Katanas $37 (without fans) and they are working fine. Don’t do much driving at night so can’t vouch for their long term reliability. They are made in chyna. Would love some manufacturing to come back to USA.

As far as potential blinding, I’ve not been flashed ONCE (ever) with LEDs in these brand new aftermarket housings. They are brighter than incandescent, but not blinding. You’ll need to learn how to aim your new assys.

Yours are unique in that they have the a built-in metal cutoff to supposedly prevent blinding in standard housings by preventing light from shooting in a specific direction. Most aftermarket LED bulbs don't have that.

I have the Katanas with the cooling fan in aftermarket TYC fixtures. The light cutoff is quite good, and have never been flashed by oncoming drivers. I also had disabled DRL long before converting to the LEDs.

The douche bags with older Chevys Trucks tend to have the blinding headlights around here. They are the older square/rectangle type housing assy. Not sure what bulbs, but they are an awful setup.

Probably '88-'98, GMT400 platform, flat-face rectangles. '78-'87 were much more square.

Maybe, I got flashed a few times when I had those, before giving them to Tvpierce. Maybe I had them adjusted too high.
