Beats me.. I started looking into paint matched parts for the chrome delete and wonder how it would look with that darker section there. My local dealers has the mirror caps atleast but those bumper corners and grills are pricey! I think those smart door handles aren’t going to be cheap either..

I'm not going to delete all chrome on mine. I'm going to make my exterior identical to the Platinum, which I like better than the 1794. But I do like the interior, which is why I chose the 1794 over the Platinum. I've even considered changing the exterior badging to the Platinum badging, keeping my interior badging the way it is (1794).

I’ve asked my wife, daughter and a few of my sons friends about the chrome situation and they all say keep it. Personally I’m not a chrome guy but I may let it ride for a while and see if it grows on me. I’m not a big fan of the Trd or wheels either but everyone else seems to like those too..
It does drive and handle great as is coming from my 11 with a 3/2 toytec and 285/75s so I’m almost questioning lifting it now too but it atleast needs a level, I really can’t stand the raked look. After talking with keith at dd I think I’m going to try to talk myself into staying with the factory tire size on this one if I can make it look good, maybe give it the pro stance and stop there.
I also love the interior but unfortunately will need to get some seat covers for the dog and getting in it with fish on me.

sorry for the rambling, I’m like a little kid with this thing. It’s only been a couple days and my brain is overwhelmed with ideas and options.

Where are you? If you want to trade your TRD wheels for my stock non-TRD's I'm open to it.

Same here as well. Grey center bumper. Rest of the truck is Barcelona Red.

I *am* a chrome guy. I wish the whole front bumper was chrome. Chromed steel shrugs off bug guts and rock chips!

I need to stick with 18s but I appreciate it, I’ll leave this alone for now until I figure out what I’m doing for lift.
I agree the chrome does seem to be easier to get bugs off, I just like to be incognito and somewhat hidden when I park in the woods to find some critters for dinner

Have any of you lifted or leveled yours and have any issues with the tss or grill sensors? Toytec told me i better look into that first before i do anything. I scanned around the forum and see a lot of threads about grill swaps and lifts causing issues but it looks like each grill or model has its own set of issues to figure out or maybe different sensor brackets?

Curious about this as well. I am just looking into leveling with 6112s set on the 3rd clip and from what I have seen people have not had issues. You should only need to relocate the TSS if you purchase a grill that is not made for your year vehicle or is aftermarket. And you will need to relocate for large lifts as well.

*hijacking the thread for a quick second* This has kind of turned into the 1794 thread.. have any of you guys with the brown interior used AJT to get rid of some chrome? I think I will do the cup holder ring and surround on the shifter. Obviously black would be the way to go. Just wanted to see if any of you guys have blacked that area out and see how it looks!

Hijack away, hopefully we can help each other out. Toytec just seemed to think i need to keep the factory rake or atleast some to keep the sensors from giving me problems, I’m not sure if that’s 1794 specific or all trucks 2018+ but since the grills are All different I figured I’d ask the 1794 crew first in case these have they’re own special set of circumstances to figure out. I had.

Hopefully others chime in. I know plenty have leveled and been just fine. I don’t think the grille difference should be a factor. We shall see!

I remember a thread where they discussed the sensors in both a grill replacement (as you said, each grill may be different) and a lift. I believe a lift of no more than 1-2" can be done without compromising the integrity of the sensor performance, but you may have to have the sensors re-targeted with much more. A dealer would likely have to do that for you. @Ruggybuggy may have been the one talking about it.

@Roman is the go to guy to make sure you pick the right grill for you situation, and whether it will fit ok.

Thanks, I’m not as concerned with changing the grill as I am with just figuring out what I can do with suspension for now. Assume using the factory grill, toytec said make sure I leave atleast half the rake that it has now for the sensor to not throw alarms and preferably more. I wasn’t sure if the 1794 grill sensor was placed different than the other sub models or if it’s the same issue lifting all the new tundras.
Hopefully there’s some type of bracket to fix it if it becomes an issue?

Please do not quote me on this one, but IIRC I've seem some either using a relocatig bracket for the sensor or improvise a way to recreate its original angle, or close to it, by adding additional nuts and/or washers in the bottom bolts.

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but I think you can go with a Platinum grill without sensor issues.

Awesome thanks. I’ll search in the suspension threads too, it sounds like it isn’t specific to the 1794 sensor just a possible issue with most of the 2018+ tundras. I’ll probably leave the grill and chrome situation alone for now and see if it grows on me while I try to get the suspension and other more important things figured out.

You can lift it and the sensors should work fine. We did spacer lifts and blocks at the dealership with larger tires and never had any issues as far as throwing codes. The radar sensor won't be as accurate though. The dealership won't realign the radar sensor if the grill has been changed, lift installed or larger tires have been installed. It opens them up to a liability. Also because the truck's sensors are not at the correct height the alignment targets won't work for the alignment.

Awesome thank you. I’ll leave the grill alone to avoid any bs that comes with it but would really like to get the suspension done sooner than later. When you lifted them we’re you leveling them or leaving a rake? I’m assuming I’d do a 3/2 on this one again to keep some rake if that assures the sensors won’t act up on me.

You can do the 3/2 if you like. The rake was never a problem on the kits we install and was never a consideration. If you think about it if you were to put your quad in the back or tow a trailer it doesn't throw a code.

Thanks, that was my thoughts too I guess toytec just had me a little freaked out. I just got the truck and it’s my first go round with the sensors so just want to make sure I don’t cause a problem.
Thank you very much that puts my mind at ease.

If you want you can ask the dealer for the update that requires you to activate the radar yourself instead of it automatically being active. The update was designed by Toyota for lifted trucks to eliminate their liability. Some like not having the system active.

Thanks. If it works fine after lift I’ll just leave it alone but if an issue pops up that sounds like the best bet. Thank you again for the help.

I think you got some iffy info. It should no way be specific to the 1794 grille

That's because Toyota doesn't have A/C seats, they are just vented.

My '11 Platinum had them in Florida with black leather and I couldn't ever tell if they were doing anything in the summers.

I've got a '15 Expedition with black leather and it has A/C seats and I can definitely tell they are doing something. They actually cool them.

I wish Toyota would get on board with that.
