Just ordered mine and am SO FISNDFUIDHNG EXCITED.

I'm looking through the instructions... Is this the part you said was wrong? Is it still wrong? If so, can you elaborate a bit on how so? I'm having a hard time figuring out what you meant. Thanks!

I'd like to know this as well. Also, where did you find those instructions? The instructions that came w/the bumper are in black & white & I can't really tell what's in half the pictures.
Since it's been so long since you posted, I assume you got yours installed. Any tips or tricks? I'd like to install all the lights & pieces before I install it onto the truck. Is that possible?

Hardest part was deadlifting the bumper into place (tied a rope to either end of the bullbar).

    A uni bit is helpful.

That big nut thing was too big to fit into the holes in my frame so I had to grind the crap out of them to get them to hammer into the frame. The directions ARE backwards. You put it in with the threaded part towards the outside, not the inside, of the frame. This bumper has been a complete and total asswhoop to install and I used to install truck accessories for a living. It’s insane all the shit you have to do with this install.

I know the part you're talking about, and I heard that someone else in these forums also thought the instructions were backwards. However, when I read them, I chalked it up to just a VERY BAD choice of words, which could be taken either way. But, once you get the parts in front of you, in person, you figure it out pretty quick lol

When you wire for the white LED light, here’s how you wire it. This is using the wires coming out of the DRL. DS is top pic then PS.
MAKE SURE you put the lights in the correct orientation. I missed the part about the arrow on the back of the light facing outward! It’s a total bitch to turn one around after the bumper is installed.

I am looking at getting the Sumit bumper too. Looks awesome. Any chance you could post a pic looking down over the top/center of the bumper? I am trying to get a feel for how much access there will be to the winch clutch handle.

You don’t reach it thru there. There’s a ‘grill’ on the front of the bumper that opens and you reach thru that.

Here’s from the top. Keep in mind, my control box isn’t mounted yet so this area will decrease in access to handle. Handle is on the DS.

I would ditch those wire tap connectors, they are not water/moisture proof. Eventually the wires will corrode. If you don't want to swap them out, I would at least open them up, fill them up with dielectric grease (like overflowing, absolutely filled) and tightly wrap them in electrical tape.

I pulled a trigger and bought Summit, 10K WARN, and Safari Snorkel today, pretty excited about this - should be able to pick up tomorrow.

I also was able to find a great deal on Smittybuilt but the sales person said Smittybuilt will not fit on the Summit because they are mounted forward.

Is this correct information?, has anyone installed Smittybuilt winch on their Summit Bumpers? if so did you have to perform any modifications?

I would like to save up some money and get a 12K Smittybuilt for $500, knowing that I may not use it all the time - rather for security and assurance purposes.

    Any feedback is appreciated
    Best,
    hefemi.

I've got a Smittybilt 10k X20 on mine and had no issues whatsoever w mounting it. Had to fab up a bracket to mount the control box, but you can also buy the same bracket.

I'll snap a pic this evening; drove my 40 to work this AM, otherwise I'd just step out to the parking lot.

Anyone have any experience with fitting the the Badlands winch from harbor freight in the arb bumper? Seems close to the warn but way cheaper and more complete of a kit.

To the people who have this bumper installed — I am getting mine installed next week at a shop because it seems like the install is just too much to handle on my own. My question is that once the bumper is on - can it easily be taken off? Like can it simply be unbolted from the brackets and hoisted off and then re attached? My concern is needing to replace lights/bulb, radiator maintenance, or doing anything else behind the bumper working with little clearance between bumper and front of truck. Any input is greatly appreciated.

This is a good question. I have one on order and also the Genuine Cooling Systems transmission cooler.

It definitely looks like I should do the trans cooler first. I can't imaging you could (not easily) get the required grill/trim off with the bumper mounted first.

To anyone still watching this thread just wanted to post up a pic of mine. 4wheelparts installed for $572, took them the whole day. Overall happy with their install. I had them install a toggle switch under steering wheel for the rectangular LEDs. The fogs they wired to the factory wiring so they still function like factory fogs with twist on steering wheel stick. They didn’t install the cover that goes over the control box of winch cause they said it doesn’t fit but after I looked at it it appears like it will, but i’m going to leave it off for ease of accessing my winch line (who wants to unbolt that cover every time you winch - not me)
Bumper is EXTREMELY sturdy. Access is tight for reaching the free spool lever on my warn vr evo 12 via the plastic doors on the bumper but is doable. If you have large hands/forearms its going to be difficult for you I believe but you should still be able to manage it. Not sure if you can see in this pic but I did add touch up paint to the front of the bumper just above the winch on the “face” of the bumper. I scratched the powder coat off while transporting bumper. Arb sent me color matched spray touch up paint made for the bumper. it is Integrit black powder coat touch up spray paint arb has matched. It’s a pretty good match but the taped off strip i painted is noticeable (hard to get spray paint on the same level as a powder coat) but it looks fine IMO. Can always sand that whole strip and paint later. There will be more scratches being an off road bumper though so I’m not worried about it! this bumper did pull my front end down about 1.5 inches with bilstein 5100s on top setting and factory toyota coils. Steering is a bit “mushy” like other people on here have said and it does take more foot on the pedal to stop or slow down my truck. Plan on upgrading to OME 613 heavy duty coils soon. To anyone else considering this bumper, It is definitely expensive compared to other bumpers on the market, but you get the ARB quality with great customer service, new fogs AND LEDs! And you get radiator and headlight protection. This was a must for me. Definitely IMO the best bumper you can put on your tundra. Lastly, loads of clearance in the front now for bigger tires, see pic, note this isn’t full lock but is the “last little turn” before you reach full lock. Running true 33s, Plan on 35s soon. If anyone wants pics of specific areas just ask and ill get one for you. I can also confirm that the directions are backwards in regards to the clevis bumper brackets so be aware of that! Cheers!

Thats odd about the hinged cover; mine fit without any issues, but I am using a hawse fairlead. You'll be happy w those coils; I had the bumper for a year before I upgraded and the change is fantastic.

The control box cover is on hinges or uses 4 bolts?
