who has em and what do you have? I have been looking at cordless impact wrenches for the past week, and they certainly don't give any of them away - not even on craigslist. I ultimately went with the Kobalt 1/2" drive 24v Max Impact Wrench from Lowe's; they had it on sale for 199, including one 4ah battery and charger. It says it's rated for 650ft lbs of torque, and when I got it home I immediately tried to get the bolts off the frame for the TRD sway bar to be installed - it ripped them off like they were nothing. I had breaker bars with all my weight on them multiple times and couldn't break those bolts free. So, I'm happy with it so far.

Does anyone else use cordless impact tools on their trucks? I was thinking about keeping this thing in the truck and using it if I ever needed to change the tires, now that I know it'll certainly do it.

I've got 18 and 24v Kobalt impacts I use them at work mostly. They come in handy for rotating tires.

I'll be watching this thread. Sounds like the Kobalt brand is pretty good.

Snap on is good stuff, but it requires me to give up my rusty balls.

Snap on is damn good too but damn it's expensive. I use the Bosch 12v for my side business and I think the quality is better than my Kobalts. The Bosch has seen a lot of hard use pretty regularly and it keeps on ticking like a Timex. The batteries on the Bosch charge faster and last longer as well even though they're different volts.

You may have the older Kobalts, the 24v line was just released in June...

I was skeptical because it's easily half the price of other brands and has more torque, but it was like a hot knife through butter with those frame bolts, and I had a fuck of a time trying to get them off without it...

I run all Dewalt tools. I've got 4 of those 1/4 inch 20v drivers in the truck at all times, they're great I've been able to take off mower blades with it. I recently picked up the 1/2 inch xr 20v and it's one nice tool.

Im a dewalt guy too but my best friend is an electrician and he loves Milwaukee. He let me use his impact and that thing could rip the nuts off of a bull. It made me feel like my dewalt impact was made by little tykes.

Yeah I've used those m18s and what not they do feel really nice. I still have a couple corded Milwaukee sawzalls those are the smoothes cutting sawzalls I've ever owned. I was at a local home depot, I saw their back clearance shelf and they had 3 20v impact kits for 50 bucks a piece I bought them all and I've been running 20v dewalt ever since. I know the Milwaukees are the best but I really don't need the best. especially since either my tools get destroyed or they walk away. With what I carry now I wouldn't be to pissed if it all went missing.

Kobalt is the lowe's brand. I haven't herd anything bad about them. I use DEWALT, I feel there tools are the best.

Not sure how many of you are aware of this, but the Lowes/HD tools are made with different components than the tools at independent dealers. Cheaper components. support your local dealers and you'll end up with a better made product too. It's a win/win.

Yeah but local dealers aren't selling 1/2" drive lithium ion 650ft lb cordless impact wrench kits for $199... it doesn't really matter to me, kobalt gives a 5 year warranty on their shit so if I get five years out of it I'll be happy. I'm not a mechanic, just using it for DIY mods here and there...

I've been using bosch for the last five years. Beating up on a daily basis. Burned out one drill and one impact. The drill didn't like running 3 1/2 inch hole saws. The impact finally gave up last summer after using it all day at work then driving 3" deck screws, 50 lbs of them. The deck came out great! The new one has both 1/2 inch square drive and quick release 1/4inch hex drives, it will break lug nuts loose. All the batteries are still good. They charge super fast and last and. My boss has Milwaukee, their badass to. I think they're tools are a little tougher than bosch. But the batteries aren't as good.

Milwaukee fuel stuff here as well. Impact, hammer drill, circular saw, sawzall and more lol use the stuff a ton no complaints here. Used the drill with a 2 5/8 hole hawg bit drilling tripled up 2x6's turned out the drill was up for the task but after it crushed my hand and another guys hand a couple times against the wall studs I decided it was actually worth driving back to the shop to get the proper tools. Funny how bleeding will convince you to do things the easy way.

I want that badass Milwaukee cordless holehog. But it's like $400 for the bare tool. Milwaukee makes the best holesaws. I've got a dewalt corded 10 amp pistol grip drill that'll run a 6" hole saw, but thing will try to break your arm.

I've got three Dewalts, one 12V drill and one of those combos that has a 20V impact and drill. Haven't been able to use the 20's much so far, but the 12 has treated me well for the littler tasks.

Milwaukee 18V on all my cordless stuff. 18v impact wrench, hammer drill, sawzall, metal cut skilsaw, LED worklight, wet/dry shop vac (toolbox style). Cordless is the only way to go. Milwaukee now has a 9.0ah batt.
