Just spent money on a transmission cooler they left off just a little pissed at toyota right now. I love the truck don't get me wrong but come on. I had a 2012 tacoma 2.7 with 60000 on it and not a drop of nothing leaked. I also had a 96 chevy silverado with 112000 that leaked a little oil at different places but at least it took a few years.

Sorry already sprayed with cleaner going to leave skid plate off and keep an eye on it. I will get pictures next time it leaks. Just hate to have new motor tore apart and trust the dealer to fix it right and maybe leak worse.

I wonder why they don't use gaskets like they use to.

I finally got to take my truck to the dealer. They confirmed what i thought was leaking to , the timing chain cover. I just hate having new motor torn apart by someone you don't no.

That's the risk buying a new vehicle. Most manufacturing issues arise in the first few thousand miles. That's what the warranty is for. It's annoying but you get your truck fixed for free and drive a loaner in the meantime.

To avoid potential new car issues, you can always go with certified pre owned

Where exactly on the engine is this leak ? do you see drips on the ground ?

Ive got a minor sweat behind the alternator coming from where the timing cover meets the block . I'm keeping my eye on it for now .

That sucks for a new vehicle, sorry that happened...I’d be pissed too.

This is precisely why I didn’t sell my 2019 and upgrade to a 2020 - I could’ve made a few grand selling it but it’s in perfect condition and my luck I’d get a new one with a bunch of problems.

There have been a few posts about 2020 issues. Maybe COVID messed up the manufacturing process.

My leak was on oil filter housing side of the timing chain cover. That corner on the bottom is hard to see because of the oil filter and ac compressor. Oil would form on the bottom but not leaking a lot.

Glad you got it in quick...when will it be done? Do they have to pull the engine or just tear it down?

Should be done right.. Within the first 3 years of ownership I had a water pump go, transmission seals leak, multiple batteries go, as well as a flash on the transmission controller due to shifting... after 220k I can honestly say the only things that have been changed has been oil, filters, brakes, 1 starter, spark plugs and tires....

Should complain about it while its there... then you wouldn't have to worry about any leaking for a while...

They probably went through the front by removing your new transmission oil cooler, AC condenser, and radiator.
It'll be interesting to see what they say, if anything, about your retrofitted auxiliary cooler.

Got truck back this evening but don't know if it is fixed. I got home and it had oil on oil filter housing. I hopes its just left over from the job. I wished they would have cleaned it better.

I also asked about the transmission cooler i added. The service advisor said it would'nt void the warranty unless it leaked. He said he also added one to his tundra to.

No its leaking at a different spot now. Looks like its where the valve cover meets the timing chain cover now. I hate letting other people work on my vehicles.
