The belt only lines up once. Once the belt is lined up the marks will not line up again once the engines spun

the marks you need to line up all the time are the gear marks

If anyone references this thread. To remove the timing belt tensioner. Skip the bullshit wobbles, tape, extensions. JUST SUSPEND AC like the power steering pump AND REMOVE THE AC MOUNTING BRACKET just do it and it's just much easier. 20200910_193234.jpg 20200910_193152.jpg

Your plugs look slightly better than mine did.

I would replace them while you're in there.
    My plugs.

    Your plugs.
    20200910_214926.jpg
Compare the two. I replaced my plugs because it was long overdue for me. I highly recommend it in any engine when the olugs show wear like yours.

I have to find the link again. I remember them having red/black/blue. I think red would look better honestly if you like the TRD logo.

Heres a link to the broad variety of hoses.

Heres a link to the specific kit I used.

I really like the quality feel of these hoses. They hold on tight! Some of them were too thin to use the old spring clamps on.

Edit: I didn't think to check the old hoses to see if any of them had check valves inside them. You may want to take the extra time to check, and then report back.

I didn't realize that was a thing until I was working on my Pop's nissan.

Any kind of work on a similar rig to mine I am very interested in. There haven't been a lot 5VZ-FEs rolling through the forum.
