Bummer but it will be ok. A week into ownership I washed and waxed mine into the deepest mirror gloss I’d ever seen... then watched a bird fly right into the door beak first. Made a nice punch in the metal on a seam that couldn’t be pushed out by a dent guy. Man that hurt, but now it’s just a truck.

Not to tell a war story but.....my first new vehicle back in (around 1981) was a Ford F100, three speed on the column and I was happy as a pig in sh**. I picked it up at the dealer with my girlfriend, I was about 19 or 20 years old, driving her home when a guy ran a stop sign and I t-boned him. The truck had 35 miles on the odometer. It was fixable but never the same....so I feel everyone's pain.
I just picked up my new 2020 sports double cab on Monday and so far no dents. :).

Anyone had any luck with cement touch up paint? The cement seems to look like different shades all the time so I’m wondering if touching up a small scratch/knick will do more harm then good.

I got my first small scratch on my tailgate this week, opened it in a hurry and forgot the jack on a trailer I was borrowing was up higher than the open position for the tailgate. Dumb mistake but it’s only a small scratch/Knick.
Wondering if it’s even worth trying to touch up.
PS. The stories in this thread do make me feel better about my own dumb mistakes.

I only buy used trucks that have already been scratched.

Lady clipped me turning around in a parking lot. After it was fixed, somebody did it again and left. The second one buffed out but paint depth and small scratches remain. Can't go with aftermarket steel due to BSM.

This damage had a crack and was replaced professionally. The second one was wet sanded and hit with meguiars compound and a buffer wheel. About 90% restored.

I could probably live with that but it still sucks that someone does damage to a vehicle and just drives off.

Yep. It seems to be a city thing. Both happened at a gun range thats being overun with bay area people due to closures. Never a problem before.

That reminded me of one of my favorite 2nd Gen Tundra stories from when they first came out in 2007. The forum people were talking about how the engine revs when you start it. A guy said an old lady was walking in front of his truck when he started it and it scared her so much that she spit out her teeth. She heard the engine rev and thought he was going to drive over her.

Check your surroundings for old ladies before you start your truck.

Had a little tussle with a “washout” that was really a ditch.

Oh and those dealer-installed color-matched door edge guards? They will loosen up eventually. Here is the fix.

I drilled a hole into my roof within 6 months of ownership, then got hail damage.

My rule of thumb is if I did it, i am a piece of sh!t but it will be ok because it’s a truck and I was using it for what it is intended for.

If someone else does it, well life must simply stop (including theirs) so I can evaluate my parking decision.

Also it will become the only spot on the vehicle which will be starred at and overly criticized for weeks upon end until I have finally focused on something else in life that matters..
