5C6ECBD8-3727-47B1-AEF2-F00EAF9C7A0B.jpg If I’m trying to install JL Audio c2 525’s into my 19 crew max with the standard SR-5 audio package Would I tie together the positive coming from my Alpine head unit going to the mid range speaker in the rear door to the positive coming from the head unit going to the tweeter of the rear door and tie those to the positive of the passive cross over? The blue wire is for tweeter the red is for mid range...

Positive and negative from the headunit will go to the cross over, then wires from the cross over to the tweeter and woofer. The cross over will either be labeled, or refer to the manual.

You will have 6 connections. Two from the HU to the AMP (labeled as amp, not an actual amplifier) or input terminal on the crossover, then 2 from the crossover to the tweeter and 2 from the crossover the the woofer.

That’s what I was thinking just needed reassurance. Thanks!

If the door speaker sounds very quiet then the woofer and tweeter are wired in reverse, its safe to wire the door and check first, sending the woofer signal to the tweeter will smoke the tweeter.

I guess what I was making sure of is that the passive cross over will differentiate between the two signals if I tie them together and put them under the positive and negative lugs of the JL cross over.

Im confused by your wording maybe. The JL crossover is a passive crossover. The OEM speakers do not have a crossover. The OE tweeter has a capacitor on it to attenuate low frequency signal, but there are no other means of a formal crossover on the OEM speakers.

I’m confused on how to say it. The blue and white wire from the picture goes to the tweeter. The red and white wire go to the mid range in the door. I was going to tie the red from the mid and blue from the tweeter together and put them under the input lug of the JL crossover. Then come out of crossover to speakers.

Ok that being said is the tweeter and woofer in the rear door receiving the same signal from head unit? If so wouldn’t need to tie them together...rite?

Sorry maybe Im too tired to work this out, I dont have my Tundra right now either and I cant remember if the rears are all powered off the amp, I believe they are.

You can try plugging the factory wires to the rear door woofer into the input on the cross over and then the red/white to the woofer output and blue/white to the tweeter output. If the rear doors are fully powered by the amp, then youre good to go and should have a full range signal for the crossover.

I know the front tweeter are HU powered and the doors are amp powered.

If there are 4 separate factory wires then you could plug all 4 into the input on the crossover. The 2 positive wires to the + terminal and the 2 negatives to the - terminal. That will at least give a full range input if they were otherwise wired separately.

This is what I was wondering. Then the crossover will output to the correct speakers (tweeters or woofers).

Welp come to find out you just need to hook up the blue and white wire that went to the tweeter to the input side of the JL crossover. It contains the full audio spectrum. If you hook it up the way we were thinking it kills the mid range speakers throughout the truck...The more you know (Rainbow)

Interesting, I never had a chance to play with the rear speakers. Good to know.
