I saved for three years while I drove my Tacoma and paid cash. Too old and close to retirement for another car payment. First time ever with a new vehicle and no payment.

Finally had some time to throw this in. Insanely easy and definitely worth it considering it is something you will use almost every time you get in and out of your truck! Thanks @2020Platinum for the step by step video so even dumb dumbs like me who have never touched a mod can figure it out

Supposed to be getting it filled tomorrow afternoon, except I oddly felt a 72 horsepower increase immediately upon application. May leave it.

Last included oil change with Toyota care so had them replace the plastic filter housing with the metal one.

...why does that look different than the one I ordered and just received today? Mine has a threaded port on the bottom, where your square drive insert is...

Not sure....that disc in the center can be removed as far as I know but do you have a pic? That is a dorman brand that I purchased at Oreillys.

Ohhh if it's Dorman, that makes sense. Here's the one I ordered from Toyota.

Yeah that’s the OEM Toyota but mine I assume would look like that with the center disc unscrewed.

Newer 5.6's come with plastic oil filter housings... Basically just replace the plastic ones with the metal ones

This is the plastic one that came out of my truck so you will just use the existing one if the OEM didn’t come with it.

Interesting. Never had a vehicle that took an oil filter holder. They've always just used screw-on metal oil filters.

Yup, pretty dumb IMO. Some companies make adapters which I'm planning on doing once my free oil changes expire.

    Well

well it’s actually better because there is a part that you can plug into the center chamber once that disc is removed that you can attach a plastic tube to drain the remaining oil in the filter so it won’t run all over everything when it’s removed.

Got a notification from FedEx that a package from DD was delivered! I got home and checked and it was the exhaust tip not the system  However I just received an email with tracking on the exhaust system so I feel better now

My 2020 TRD Pro has the metal oil filter housing standard. Odd to use plastic for such a critical part.

It should have come with the metal part. Mine did.

Strange, mine had the plastic filter mount. Had to add the metal one.
