Being an Apple guy, I checked into that one but the reviews were not as good as the BaFx which cost way less. I was given a free Android phone dedicated solely to monitor the gauges.

Quoted from a different thread, question seems more relevant here...

That's a nice display configuration you've set up, have you figured out how to keep your display from resetting each time you restart the app? I just purchased the BAFX unit, I guess I'll get the torque pro app so I can mess around with it.

    Thanks. You’ll enjoy it.

I bought the $5 app which is what everyone on the reviews recco’d. Still haven’t figured out a saving mode other than unplugging the phone to turn it off and more importantly, unplugging the OBD to stop the Bluetooth Drain.

I Downloaded the track recorder plug in today and drove to the carwash and gave it a try. I used the default layout, (already tweaked it) and took a few screen shots. This is totally cool as you can watch the entire trip after you are done. If you have the Torque Pro app and dont have this yet, get it.

Cool stuff. Your Coolant at 195° looks about where mine stabilizes. Sometimes it will go to 200°. Bounces around in that zone.

I discovered the HUD setting on the display last night picking up the kid from work. It reverses the display so you can put your device on the dash and see it all on the windshield. Probably no good during the day but it was cool driving with the info right there..

Can one maybe use it as a make shift dash cam? I’ll have to play with it tomorrow.

Yep. It's more like an enhanced dash cam with whatever gauges you want recorded. You need a good phone holder to keep it from bouncing around. It eats up memory fast, but you can delete trips to clear space or expand your memory.

    Screen shots of trip today..

Since installing a New Denso Radiator and doing a Prestone Flush, my coolant temps have been sticking right at 185° steady versus 195-200°. The weather has been slightly cooler, but I’ve been running her hard and she sits at 185° regardless of getting on it or sitting at idle for extended periods afterwards.

Guessing Transmission Fluid will run slightly cooler as well since its flowing through a 10° colder Radiator.

This pic is after a one hour drive at 60-70 MPH and then idling for 5 minutes.

    *****UPDATE****
YOUTUBE BLOCKED THE ORIGINAL VIDEO BECAUSE THE MUSIC PLAYING VIOLATED COPYRIGHTS.

so I uploaded 13 minutes of dash cam video from torque pro with live gauges on the friendly Las Vegas streets and freeways to Youtube.

    https://youtu.be/ZPyPQCilnE8

the 7:19 mark is the highlight as i drive past another broken down Ford on the side of the freeway.

if you are offended by hard rock music or dont care for Disturbed, pls mute.

Also i have both Gps and mechanical speeds on display and the varience is apparent.

I really love this app and extra goodies it has other than just reading codes.

A coworker just gave me an old Samsung Galaxy. I downloaded the Torque Pro app and am playing with setting up the gauges and noticed there's two different trans temps (Method 1 and Method 2). Anyone know the difference between the two?

Depending on the year of truck, I think only one method works. The ECM only has one sensor for it so try both.

I thought the 5 speed auto had the ability to read pan temp and torque converter? I could be wrong.

Was thinking the same thing. Our Early 1stGen only have one Sensor Reading. Later Gen has two?

I was wondering about this. Did you change the thermostat to a lower temp one at the same time?

5 Speed does have torque and pan, have to use the PID calculations to get it.

Attached is my Torque profile. Please download it and rename it back to ".dash" file you need to save in your .torque folder on your Android phone. It has a lot of info I look at. But here is an explanation.

Btw I use it for all my cars (2000 Land cruiser, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2006 Tundra DC, 1997 Toyota T100) so I have multiple pids that sometimes don't populate depending on cars.

    - 2 screen is for fuel trims, 1 for graphs and 1 values. Also has oxygen equivalency ratio "O2S1EQ" , air fuel ratio commanded & measured "AFR c/m" (should work for most cars except Honda). For Honda I have commanded equivalance ratio (lambda) shows up as "Comeqr". Also includes Maf/intake/Throttle info.

    - The main screen has info for both newer Toyota 5 speed transmission temperatures (pan and torque Conv) and older 4 speed transmission temperature. Vaccum (shows as Boost) info which can say a lot as well on how you car is performing. And coolant temperature.

    - 1 screen to monitor emissions readiness.

Other screens have the normal other stuff.

    Hope this helps.

I have my monitor phone set up to go to sleep when accessory power is not present, so that it doesn't need t boot up every time I want to get into the vehicle and drive. My bluetooth adapter stays plugged in at all times with no ill effects, so it's completely hands off once I got it set up how I wanted it.

Alright, I need a little help. I got a second had Galaxy S5 and downloaded Torque Pro. Got things layed out decently, but the trans temp isn’t reading. There are two trans temp “gauges” you can add, (method 1 anc method 2) and neither is giving an output. What do I need to do to get a trans temp readout?
