IMHO Factory wheels in all black are sharp. I’m always surprised to see the used ones selling cheap when they can look like this. Much more affordable option for me since I already put new ATs on it.

How did you black out the wheels? I just had mine done, and I couldn’t be happier.

You might want to check out https://3dcarstickers.com/ for some custom center cap stickers.

I made mine TRD pro caps for $13

FYI the size that fits is 83mm

Cool! So did you fill the holes in the caps? Then repaint them as well?

prep and paint base clear on my wheels.

ok I ended up doing the emblem in flat black to give a slight contrast to the cap. I’m not sure if I’d obsess about the holes in the cap. Might have to fill them and paint before decal.

Although I don’t notice the holes in yours. I guess the sticker covered it?

Yes the decal is a circle that covers the whole indented part of the center cap

Looks sharp you guys. I really want to do mine, but I don’t know how I can get the darn wheels powdercoated or painted easily. It’s almost like I need to buy a second set to have done about the time I have to buy tires, otherwise my daily driver is out of commish for like a week or more. Did you guys paint your wheels on the truck, tires installed, or remove them?

Mine were done by a mobile wheel repair company.

did it in my driveway in 5 hours and was ready to drive that day and be washed in 24hrs.

Came with a lifetime warranty as well.

I wouldn’t paint them on the truck. There are places that will but, it won’t look good. Get a spare set, refinish and have them swapped if you don’t have a spare car. Then when your old ones are off sell them.

I wonder if they used catalyzed clear or some lacquer clear? Also, did they overspray onto calipers etc or tape them off in the window areas?
Cost? I guess if you can’t spare the truck it’s an option.

i can look at what the term was for the clear coat on my bill. They did cure the clear with a heat gun.
It can be done with the wheels on and they will mask everything off, but I was able to ask him to remove the wheels and they performed the work that way.

Seeing as how I was due for a tire rotation, I offered to help remove my tires which allowed me to rotate them after the wheels were done.

I agree! Looks good with the blacked-out center caps as well. Someone was selling a set of takeoffs on his 2019 near me for only $200, so I couldn't pass it up. Had them powdercoated and basically had a set of pre-2019 Pro wheels for $500 all-in!
