What size bit is needed to remove the OEM and install this one?

You will need a T40 Torx bit to remove the stock bolts, and an M6 hex to install the new ones.

They're very common, you probably already have it. It's the same as a 6mm Allen wrench, which you could also use.

    https://www.amazon.com/Wiha-71397-M...ords=metric+hex+bit+set&qid=1596809188&sr=8-8

The Wiha bits are very nice, I highly recommend them. If you go with a hex bit you need a bit adapter for a ratchet/torque wrench. This one is 1/4" drive.

I received my set but have not had time to install. I have a bed liner and the bastards sprayed over the tie points and hardware. Is there an easy way to remove the hardware a prep the mounting surface where it will not look like crap afterwards?

I had the same issue - but its not an issue :)
Just take a pick and clean the torx head out BEFORE trying to remove the oem bolts. And get a razor blade and just cut at the base where the oem tie downs contact the bed. take your time and be careful. Luckily these rad new tie downs are larger than the stock ones so it just covers up the missing bedliner. I can get pics of mine if you need but its easy.

I stripped the first one trying to extract it. Any recommendations on how to get it out?

Sorry to hear that! Have you tried a bolt extractor in the stripped part of the torx? Or you could just drill the head off and then turn the threaded part out with vice grips once the stock hook is removed.

Locking pliers and a flat head screw driver got it out. Thanks!

The locking pliers got the bedliner off like a shell. Then I was able to use the torx 40 to remove the bolts. These things are sexy!

I know this is old but I was able too use both rear loops with dual swing cases. What I did was moved them up 1 hole. Used the top hole for loop bottom hole, then drilled new hole at top. It is double/tripple walled behind it so I used a step bit to gain access , through the tail light opening.

Please keep me posted if this works, I have had several members ask if they would work with a Swingcase.

Here are some final pictures. They were pretty close to the case itself. IIRC, the vertical part touched there case or fit in a notch. Yours being thicker may prevent them from working with the swing cases. I have more pictures on my process of anyone wanted to see. Don't want to spam OP's thread.

Thanks for the pics and explanation. It's close but I don't think mine would fit being wider like you said. Great solution though!
