Not sure yet, I did a quick look/feel of the paint and it doesn't really seem to need much at all. Also, even for Tucson, it's been a brutal summer. Over at least 105 for weeks and humid, so just getting through a long detail process would not be fun. For now I just really want to get some sun protection on it, so probably just a good wash and Power Lock right now.

What's the best way to polish and shine up gloss wheels? I put dlux on them, but I messed up a few spots and want to strip then and do it again.

Last night my son and I waited for the sun to start to set to try and beat the heat a bit, went out to the garage, blasted some heavy metal, drank some beers, and cleaned up his new car. Washed, windows cleaned, 1st good coat of Power Lock, etc. His mom even came out between making dinner and chipped in by doing the wheels. It was still hotter than hell, but we had a really fun time.

And a few minutes ago, it started to rain. Of course. :annoyed:

I feel your pain. During Monsoon season I just do a quick Saturday morning power wash job and use Bead Maker as drying aid. I don’t believe in the 10% chance of precipitation anymore.

Stripping old wax you guys feel using dawn dishwashing soap works best? Or better to get a wax stripping soap like clean slate by CG. I really like CG soaps.

Ifs its a regular wax then it should be gone in a month or 2 anyway. I would wash then clay and it should be good to go.

Cool, the car I am washing looks like it was waxed in the sun. Has dried on streaks, looks horrible.

Decided to detail the jambs this morning because they very much needed it.
Glad I did, because I found hundreds of rust spots appearing in three out of four door sills. plus a big nasty thing in the upper front passenger door frame :annoyed:

If I'm doing a full detail, including a polish, here's the order:

Wheel/tires first - Optimum Power Clean
    Iron decontamination - Iron-X
Pre-rinse and wash- Reset, Pearl, Jay Leno Wash
Clay bar - Clay and Speed Shine
    Polish
    Panel prep - Eraser
    Wax/Seal - Griots 3 in 1
Wheel coating - MCKees Wheel coating

Just cover them up with some of the overpriced OEM sill protectors.

I thought they’d be a little heftier as well. I was looking at a set last time I was at the dealer. Pretty disappointing for the money they charge...

Detailed Image does indeed rock. I bought some Jescar products during a recent sale.....and the offer included a free t-shirt. They sent me the wrong size, and I sent a note to customer service. Now, it was a free shirt, so if they didn't want to do anything for me, I'd understand. Instead, the correct size showed up at my door three days later....and they did not ask for the other one back.

I’ve found that the detailing business has customer service way beyond what you find in most industries. With the exception of DPC, I haven’t really heard of any bad experiences. Most times it’s exactly the opposite. Most of these companies really excel at customer satisfaction. Not many industries where you can easily get in touch with the owner of a company.

First, thanks to Ckatz53 for the tip in the interior detailing thread about using a round, bristled brush in a drill to go over carpets before vacuuming. Huge time saver and lifted dust and crap that I'm sure has been there for years.

NEXT QUESTION FOR THE GURUS: It's about time to refresh the stock of micro-fiber towels. I really don't want a half dozen different types of towel. So what would you suggest as a single towel for waterless washing, applying sealers like Griot's 3 in 1, and even removing polish and wax occaisionally?

The rag company has pretty good sales, if you are able to wait until they offer one.....I bought a pile of their eagle edgeless MF rags on a BOGO sale recently.

Both Meguiars Ultimate Wax and NXT are synthetic sealants, and as such, neither will remove water spots. According to Meguiars website, NXT will 'visually eliminate swirls and scratches'....which would speak to its filling capability.
