You almost need to lean the radiator forward and look between the radiator and the a/c condenser!

I heard many people are having a leak under the intake manifold with the coolant.

In between the radiator and condenser coil is cleaned I cleaned it with a degreaser when I took the radiator out. Also new fan clutch didn't help my issue either. I have no coolant missing at all when I open the cap also it is still all the way full. I did purchase a trd radiator cap also the only one my dealer had in stock so. im going to try and make sure all the air is out over the weekend and see if it changes at all. ive looked all over and under the motor with no visible notification of a leak at all so maybe it will be fine.

Have you checked the accuracy of the coolant temp sensor? Use an infrared thermometer gun to measure the temp and compare to your gauge.

If it was leaking in the valley there it would probably evaporate and never hit the ground ! Also it could be an air pocket

Anyone figure this out? I'm running a little hot when going down the highway above 70, when towing or if I am stopped, in gear, with the ac on. Its a 2007 Tundra. New radiator, New cap, New thermostat. No leaks that I can see. Any recommendation would be helpful at this point.

I just can't imagine that is the issue when it doesn't leak. Kind of lost.

I suspect this is exactly what’s going on with my 2019 Tubdra. Just bought it 19k mikes. It had 18Kw service done and radiator replaced before I bought it. Put 1000 miles on it towing maybe 200 and today first time AC on idling and temp warning goes off and we’re at H.
Topped off coolant.. we’re on a camping vacation. Driving with AC off so far no problem. Still testing.
Really don’t want to dig into this baby this week at a campground. <sigh>.

Here is mine. Bottom of the rad cap broke off and got stuck in the same spot. My 5.7 was running hot while cruising on the interstate. Ran the heater inside to cool it down.

Not sure if i got it all. I guess I'll find out in the morning.

glad it worked out for you. Hopefully you didn’t spend as much money as I did trying to fix it.

I noticed the cap wasnt right when I checked it after it was running hot. I dont know if the sensor for the gauge was restricted, but it seemed like the engine wasnt as hot as the gauge said it was. Without holding pressure, the overflow tank was filling instead. Initially I thought maybe it was running hot just because of that but there was no change after replacing the cap.

Some searching led me to this thread and your post led me right where to look for the broken pieces, thank you. I pulled off the upper rad hose and there it was. Two weeks later still running cool like it's supposed to.

Seems to be a failure prone part. Stupid design allows the spring and some rubber to get sucked into the system when it fails. Apparently a lot of other asian cars use the same radiator cap. Worth looking into if you have another car.

I am not saying this is your problem, but when ever I change a thermostat I put the new one on the stove in a pot of water and check to make sure I have a good one. Twice I have found that the new stat would not open all the way and returned for another.

I had the same thing happen when removing the Radiator cap on my 4.7L. The cap is on the right side (looking into the engine compartment) and the tank below the cap goes all the way to the bottom of the Radiator. The lower hose on the opposite side of the cap is about 3" above the bottom of the radiator. The pieces may have stayed there but I was not going to take that chance. You can't drain the Radiator to get the pieces out so I had to remove the Radiator to get the pieces out. I would say that you got lucky that those pieces did not get stuck in the engine and cause real problems.
