Sadly, I used to skate too, back in the day when it was much more illegal to do so, but I'm fairly sure I cannot kickflip a shovel.

No, but don't forget y'all have crocs in FL too. Saw plenty while spending half my life living down there. They're OK with salt, and plenty of alligators don't seem to mind brackish water, and I saw plenty alligators on gulf-side boat ramps and canals too, especially in Crystal River for whatever reason.

My advice: If you want to live in FL for any extended period of time, avoid Lake County, Sumter County, Marion County like the plague. Trust me on this, I can cite multiple reasons. I'd say to be wary of Pasco, Polk and Volusia Counties also, don't just jump in, figure out where you want to be. Sorry to the person in Odessa who has property in Lakeland too, not trying to bag on where you've got places, Odessa is nice and some parts around Lakeland are too. But the first three counties I posted, stay away. Trust me. And for the love of all that's sane, avoid the WNW parts of Alachua where Starke, Lawtey and Waldo are. Waldo has gotten better, but ... ugh.

Both me & management (the misses) are in the event, trade shows and concert industry. I’m an audio visual tech and she works in sales for an audio visual rental & staging company. The corona has left our industry a mess and the future is bleak. With that being said, we are thinking since I’m unemployed and she is working 20 hours a week and making no money, why not start over somewhere more relaxing. At the moment we are getting the houses ready to go on the market and we are planning on wondering up the east coast of Florida some time next month so we can get a better feel of the areas.
It’s a plan, don’t know if it’s going to work out that way but hey it’s the plan till we have to form another.

That sucks, I know you're probably getting hammered right now, company I work for has a branch managing public access, access control for events, movies and movie access, it had to be folded due to the pandemic. Up here in ATL it's the movie industry getting hammered, we have friends in both movie and concert industry who're in dire straits.

East coast, depending on how old, sleepy or spendy you want to go, Stuart-Salerno was good a few years back, there's still a few cavities north of Vero, between Vero and New Smyrna. I hear property is pretty cheap still in and around Titusville specifically, ever since the NASA exodus, but prices ramping up fast. I have a soft spot for St Augustine and New Smyrna. Used to skip school, then hit the cow fields on the way out to the jetties to surf. Our spot was right where The Oasis bar was, I seriously doubt it's still around, but that's how we'd direct friends to get there. I personally wouldn't move south of Ft. Pierce / PSL area with exception of Stuart and Palm City, and even those two are inundated with older ultra-conservatives IME, really not my crowd, maybe exciting to others.

I just get wary of certain gulfside towns. There was some pretty dark shit going on between Hudson and NPR back in the day, animal sacrifices and bizarre shrines popping up. We lived right where SR52 hits 19. Then just around the corner in Moon Lake, the klan owned the entire town, had their own broadcast stations, always found it bizarre as hell. I got nervous when one of my Orthodox Israeli friends moved to NPR. I haven't been back in a good 15+ years, so maybe it's better now.

On that note, everything I mentioned above is dated by at least 5-10 years and through jaded goggles. MIL moved out of the Stuart area 10yrs back, aunt is leaving NPR now, uncle and his family moved out of Bithlo, two cousins out of Melbourne. Most headed to AL/SC/GA. Last one to give up on FL was my parents, who left Bradenton in late 2018 for south-central AL.

Nothing personal, but the state looks like the phallic appendage of this country. I found a few gems like you down there, but a lot of the residents and snowbirds legitimately act like the appendage to which the state resembles. After 22 years of my life spent living all over FL, working for a traveling lighting company, married to a woman who grew up entirely in Miami, we promised we'll never go back. Getting out of that state was the best thing we ever did!

Move to Savannah GA or Tybee! All the awesomeness of beach life, wilderness, etc. without the same level of crazy, meth-induced, face-eating nonsense :D

As I read the 5th paragraph all I kept thinking about was
    floridaman.com
Florida is unique in American history. It was the first place in America to have slavery, the first place to abolish slavery (before it was a state) and yet be 1 of the original founding 3 states in the confederacy.

Management‘s (wifey) parents are in Miami so she doesn’t want to go to far. I’m going to do some research on Savannah, I know it’s an old city and that’s it. Thanks for the info.

Man. If a local v6 reg cab ever pops up I’m getting that terrible idea of doing a Toyota v12 swap...

Ok truck can’t drive for a bit. Radiator leak is pretty bad. Now since I have to do the rad, should I do the a/c condenser too? Current one isn’t in terrible shape but it’s definitely got bent fins. New denso is 60 bucks and the drier is 12 bucks from denso.. I would also replace the orings in the system I can easily reach.. then install a mesh to protect all the new shit

I mean it blows cold but eh... nows the easiest time to do it...

Also, could anyone post pictures of a non vvti air intake tube. Airaid makes one for 00-04 but not the vvti ones later. Curious the difference because I really want to get rid of the bulky stock tube

further inspection shows some hose differences that honestly can be addressed. but i guess i'll hold off on the intake tube for the time being (unless someone has one they wish to sell!)

well.... looks like the tube CAN be used. as long as 03-04 throttle body diameters are the same as 05-06. this i need someone to measure to make sure.. i dont have one at my disposal right now...

I'd say go ahead and do the condenser at the same time.

Also, while you're in there, might as well do a swap to a 5.7. :crapstorm:

That 5.7 is a great engine but it’s an aluminum block. The 4.7 may be on the smaller side but that iron block keeps the insides inside

    trust me.. i would.

but the 4.7 is a wonderful engine that just works. sure its down on power. but its much more simple and at the end of the day is capable of well over 1500hp if built....

I agree, both are awesome. My son just sold the 2000 before coming home that I bought in 2000. Served our family for 20 years, only needing 1 water pump, oil, and brakes. Best truck ever.

Although I also love my 5.7

the UZ series engines are capable of big power. hell the 4.0 and 4.3 aluminum blocks can make massive power because theyre closed deck engines too. but with 6 bolt mains instead of the 4.7s 2 bolt mains

I like the 5.7 engine but I don’t like the way the 07-10 trucks drive and I don’t need a car payment for a newer model. The 1st gen is just as long but less cab and not as wide as the newer. For me personally I prefer the 1st gens driving manners, but more power would make the truck a shit load more fun with 2 heavy Dixie chicks, a bucket of chicken and a sofa in the bed, truck wouldn’t care

I get the not wanting a payment thing. Our plan at first was that when my kid got out of the military I would sell him my 2014 cheap and get the new Gen 4 2021.

Well, then they moved the Gen 4 to 2022, then Covid and the wifes 27 year job with an airline turned into an early retirement and I shifted to part time work at home. I rarely drive and my truck only has 52k miles on it. Ended up helping the boy get a new 2020 Sorento talked down from $30k to $21k, so he has an affordable brand new SUV and I have decided to keep my payment free 2014 Tundra for quite a few more years.

This COVID has left the country in really bad shape and yet the real estate market is really going hot right now, I don’t know how that is possible

Housing prices jumped $40k in my town. 30 minutes down the road on the sound, housing prices are up an average of $400k. Boggles! Folks want out of NYC & immediately.

house next door to me just went on the market. They are asking just under $150k per bedroom. ....and I'm keeping my place spic & span to help them get it. LOL.

    :rofl::rofl:

In 2004 I was earning around $58k in my day job and around $40k in freelance work. I lived in a studio apartment in lower Manhattan 1/2 block away from the projects. Had to get rid of my car due to the non stop $125 parking tickets. Then 1 day I looked around and realized I will never earn enough to live happily in NY. I have family in Florida so.....
