If you were honestly upset and had valid reasons, it would be a different story.
Let me rephrase, because I really don't wish to argue further.
To you, all of your complaints were completely valid.
To us, we had to jump through hoops to get reliable information from you, had you continually request refunds because you didn't understand the product or it's features, continually complained because you didn't get the features almost immediately after we figured out how to do it, etc.

So we both have our own stories.
    That's all. That's the end.
Your tune is done. No more arguing necessary.
This is my absolute last post on the matter.

I requested a refund one time. And you said no.

I have email traffic detailing everything. You never had to jump through hoops to get information from me. In fact, you never once asked me ANYTHING. Except for the last round where you asked if I knew how to use direct shift:

    Screenshot_20200830-143255_Gmail.jpg

Notice how i snap replied with an answer? Then notice again how you just ignore me??

My tune is not done. Tow haul mode does not shift correctly. But you told me no more updates until direct shift was released. Now you are telling me direct shift is not available for my ecu

I have not had a complete tune from you EVER.

If anyone wants a complete history of my email traffic with Mat, send me a PM. I would be HAPPY to provide context. I'm not here trying to attack OVTune. I have nothing to gain. All I am trying to do is get what I paid for almost a year ago

I didn't ignore you, I recall a few times replying to you on this very thread.
your completed tune was sent when we fixed 4Low settings.
Beyond that it was just adding features (directshift / gearlock) which we cannot implement in your ECU.
Please provide all forum posts for context.

@osidepunker As someone in the market for a tuner, I appreciate you sharing your customer service experience here. I was going to push back on my shop's recommendation but it looks like they were being truthful about their experiences with this brand.

Thanks for this man, I appreciate it. Sometimes it's hard when everyone makes you feel like you have no right to stand up for yourself and demand to be serviced properly when you pay for a product

First you tell us to stop posting in the thread and to only use zendesk

Now you are telling me it's my fault for not paying attention to this thread. Wtf man!

Tow haul does not work. When I put it in tow haul it doesn't shift properly. Do I need to post video before you will believe me?

Go read how the original version of our Gearlock works.
I recall specifically mentioning it to you here because you were here commenting. If I am wrong about that I apologize, although I do recall specifically telling you there was a bug we were investigating.

    To get back on Topic,

2019 ECUs are al fixed and features fully working.
An update to vF Tuner will be made next week which will include stock + Feature files for 2019s.
It will also include for 2018s, since the same issue exists on 2018. (OCNxx ECUs)
At the same time folks without vF Tuner but with 2018 ECUs will be updated at the same time.
I will send out emails as well for 2018 Customers.

We have (actually a while ago) removed the Tune Packs for Tundras from our website. The feature files will come with vF Tuner directly. Custom tuning on 18/19 trucks will need to be done via a dyno tuner / tuning in person.

I’ve got an 18, and purchased a tune pack. Curious what you mean by custom tuning to be done in person. Does that mean that the time pack that I purchased is useless?
Or do you mean beyond what your tune that you send out? I was hoping to get like an 89 regular- 93 tow/haul button map kinda setup.

Not attacking Or anything, just making sure I understand.

What I mean is that you get our tunes + custom features, and if you want to custom tune further you can with vF Tuner.

This thread is crazy! All the back and forth and shit talking.
I for one share @osidepunker feelings when it comes to timelines and communication.
I could be mistaken but I don’t believe a timeline has ever fully been met. It seems each ecu has its own idiosyncrasies to work through taking extra time and impacting completion.
In my experience communication has been very spotty. I have had an email replied to on the same day and have also gone a couple months before getting a reply.
I don’t know that I had any specific expectations when I first ordered the OVTune over a year ago. Maybe some small performance improvements and a tune specific to my truck after logs with a 3-5 day turnaround as was advertised on the OV website. I can tell you that the over promise and under deliver result is not what I thought I was signing up for.
Maybe I’m wrong but it seems OV was unprepared for the popularity of their tune. They probably should have held off on announcing some of the new feature updates and just worked through logs and updating tunes in a timely manner while they perfected the new features.
Sometimes it’s best to just communicate timely and effectively and under promise and over deliver. There are always growing pains with new products, allow for them and don’t announce new features or release dates until they have been thoroughly tested and proven.

You are correct, our timelines were not met. I want to explain some of the reason why.

Yes, we did not expect nearly as many Tundra customers as we got, on top of that we did not expect as many unique IDs as there is. That was half the issue.

I could be wrong but in my opinion everything was going pretty dang smooth with files and updates up until about the end of February / beginning or March. I posted about this before, but this is right when all the COVID stuff happened. Schools closed down and my children were home 24/7, and still are. My supply chain for cables was almost non existent for 8-10 weeks. My developer was unable to be reached, and Rafael, my assistant and dealer, had his own issues related to COVID during this time.

After that it has been a continual catch up and fix game. We are only 2 people. Things changed so much so that I completely changed our software, what we offer, etc.
So yes, part of this IS our fault. I personally got a little carried away with different features I wanted to make. My goal was just to make the Tundra drive better.

Communication has been a challenge for us. I don't hesistate to admit it. Bouncing around forums, emails, blog posts. On average we get around 50-100 NEW emails a day. For 2 people.
Everyone asks me, why not hire someone? hire a tuner to help? I tried, twice. The last person outright stole things from me and created a near verbatim copy of my website even. The other person was helpful for about a month, and slowly made his way into doing nothing at all.
We aren't a dyno shop just trying to get cars on a dyno, run it and gun it and be done in 3 hours. Ask any truly experienced calibrator and they will agree that PROPER tuning of stock ECUS / reflash tuning requires learning the logic, how it all functions, and ensuring what you are doing works long term.

I had this same issue on the Tacoma. I come from a background of tuning race vehicles, highly customized setups, not trucks. When I first started tuning Tacomas I imagined I'd do a couple dozen. I've ended up tuning almost 10,000 of them.

Thanks for the straight response Mat - that all makes sense.

When looking to hire help, you don’t need a tuner or developer. You need a minimum wage secretary for 4 hours a day to sift through that pile of email and funnel important stuff to you.

Let them provide timeline updates to people and all the menial shit that uses up your time. No risk of them making off with your code or ideas, they’re strictly administrative.

Food for thought. Worked for my step dad after getting burned twice by people who learned his business and then sandbagged him. He hired a secretary and now he can actually take vacations instead of babysitting everything.

I remember when we first talked about this tune. My recollection is that you wanted it primarily to override rev limits?

Throttle limits. The main reason was to remove throttle limits in 4wd. Mat was able to do that for 4lo, but he hasn't addressed 4 hi yet.

I asked him, but he never responded...

It would be nice to see a revised tune from current base tune nearly a year after I bought the flash kit during the labor day sale. I expected a wait for development and updating tunes, even considering COVID, but this has drawn on too long. Really considering switching to HPtuners soon.

I have removed all throttle limits that can be found in your ECU.
Datalog it and see for yourself.

Have you sent any logs during that time, or received our email about the features?

I sent logs and a few request early this year, and never heard anything back through the zendesk emails. Then asked on here last month or so if you recieved them, and you confirmed you did.

Pffft. We will figure it out. I’m not going to have the features Mat can add, but they don’t seem worth it to me after all this back and forth bs. @OVTune why not give his money back?, or give him VF tuner to go away, or does that not work also for his truck?B562B3D4-64BF-4F60-B5FE-F447B2EFF0A5.jpg

Gotcha, I don't need the headaches. Thanks for your input on this product. I think I'll be looking into HP tune, sounds a easier and like I might actually have a tune in less than a year,

Vf tuner does not yet support older ECUs. They will after we update everyone.

His tune is complete. No money to give back.

Congratz on buying HPTuners and good luck!

Meh, Alex is a friend of mine, and I’ve seen his tune not work in person. Not sure how that is flexing, but maybe?
Thanks, put a minute of research into it, hope it works out:D

    Which version tune *specifically*?
The one where 4low throttle was still limited and he didnt tell us? That's been fixed, for a while.

    What EXACTLY wasn't working?

Because the file we gave him prior to DS/GL, everything works.

    Even tow/haul.
His lack understanding about original implementation of gearlock doesn't mean it doesn't work.
Alex not understanding how gearlock via tow button DOES NOT mean his tune doesn't work.

Not really surprised his friends are in here commenting again.
