Thoughts on these oem running boards

I got '17 oem tube running boards. Doesn't give much of a step for my kids. Saw these on FB. Would these be better?

 

I just bought these and am very happy with them

 

Mine came with these from factory...wife and daughter love them...I, not so much!! I’m a little concerned with the living in the northeast and road salt, brine and snow sitting on them and starting the cancer issue sooner...wife told me last night to take them off for winter lol

Had the stock ones on last truck,worked great.

 

Went with some Ionic boards from Running Board Warehouse. Supposedly all stainless steel including the brackets. $300 out the door. Ive seen the Tyger ones start rusting after a couple of winters here in Maine.

I love these running boards and so does my family. I have 3 kids, 2 are 9 year old twins and they love these, as well as my wife. Fortunately, I received these free from a guy cleaning out his garage. Although, when I was looking I came across many of these on FB, craigslist, nextdoor, and other social media ranging from $100 to $300; I think $300 is too high regardless of what Toyota sells them for. I would recommend offering the seller at max of $150 or lower. Just my opinion.

I have the GoRhino RB20 with the bedliner coating and I love them. They're very wide which makes for good platform/step for wife and kid, grippy also with that coating. I originally planned to install a grab handle on the driver side pillar, but now no need with these. Other car's door would also hit these instead of your body panel. Just putting it out there as an alternative option if your'e looking for wide steps.

 

My rig also has these factory running boards (PT925-34183). The family and I have been pretty happy with them. Idaho also uses the salts and brines and such... They are anodized finish with aluminum extrusion. They appear to be corrosion resistant. Thus why I have kept them on... The price appears fair as well as these are listed at $499.00 from the dealer. As as been suggested, perhaps negotiate a lower price and it would a steal.

@ElNopal its not the steps I’m worried about rusting it’s my fender and lower door that all that sits up against that I’m worried about

 

I'll be considering these when my nerf bars need replacing. They're aluminum and seem well made. Price is right, too.

I just replaced my Ionic "Brite" running boards with those Tyger steps.

The Ionic are nice and provide a good wide step, but the are aluminum and will bend or warp if you arent careful.
One of mine slightly warped/bent, not sure how, but Im thinking one time i went through the car wash or the dealership drove it
through their wash.

 

I stayed away from the Aluminum ones for that specific reason. I’m hoping the stainless steel ones will hold up to the Maine winters. If I was in a southern state, I would have bought the Tygers for sure. I love the look of em.

 

I believe those are the boards I had the dealer install when I bought my truck. Although they are Toyota boards pretty sure they are not the same as the ones the factory installs. I really like them, aluminum construction powder coated black with a rubbery step surface and seem quite sturdy. They also offer excellent protection from road debris kicked up by the front tires. They set just under the rocker panels so you don't loose much ground clearance, and yes I would buy them again.

 

I can't speak to longevity, but I like the OEM boards. Kids and wife are happy.

I'll add that my factory running boards on my '00 Tundra held up extremely well for 20 years. I'm more inclined to trust Toyota than the aftermarket. I see a lot of poorly powder coated products on jeeps and trucks around here.

 

I love the OEM running boards--the way they look and work. I always stay away from tubes because of they can be dangerous during the winter. My friend went to step on his tubes and there was ice under the truck. His leg went in between the tube and broke his leg as he fell down on the ice.

Jtundra81, are those the OEM steps? I’m looking for something different on my CM. I currently have the predator steps and I’m not a big fan so I will be removing/selling. I like the close fit on yours. Also, what brand window vents are those? In channel?

 

Yes , OEM side steps. Had dealer install it before I picked up the truck , I have 2 small kids and needed to have one , honestly i would choose it again , I just like the fit and clean look .

I am using in channel AVS , no rubbing , windows open and shut with no issue

 

Toyota OEM, not sure part number, installed at purchase. Wide that car doors parked beside me hit them before the panels. ABS so will never corrode. Lip and raised spots add to traction. Great for the kids, grandparents and drunk wife.

Do you guys know how much those OEM ones are? There's someone local to me that's selling brand new take-offs for 350.

 

I would say good price , payed 600 at the dealer installed , should have gotten it and installed myself if I knew they were screwing me over , oh well

 

Toyota makes a few different boards that sell at varying price points. I suppose they can all be called OEM but the ones that are orderd as an add on for the truck from the factory sell at $345.00. I'm not sure if the factory installs them or if it's port like the spray on bed liner is.
