I did the same thing. Didn't realize what went wrong because I hadn't messed with anything, but apparently Windows screwed me as well.

I personally don't care for this setup as it might take a bit to be able to flash. I believe it took about four days to get my key, but it is what it is. I know with other vehicles that I've tuned my key was kept in the dongle. Just a different way to do stuff I guess.

All the others I’ve ever done were vin locked. I don’t know why they don’t do it that way. For doing multiple vehicles, just purchase credits and submit the vin and add it to the list. I don’t get it being locked to the OS of the computer.

Me too. I've wanted to wipe my Surface computer, but had decided against it since I didn't want to mess with anything. Unfortunately I can't now, but might do it after I get my tune and ensure that I'm good. Then I'll do the process again to get another registry key.

How will this be handled when everyone is doing their own tunes? Is there going to be a sea of bricked ECUs when windows updates every time? Or does the issue go away because there are no new files?

jeez man sometime I wonder if you just have a terrible memory or something. I have not complained since day 1. Day 1 was almost a year ago. My complaints didnt start until a few months ago.

My complaints with you revolve around your missed timelines and broken promises. For example, you said this update would be done by July 31st. but what you REALLY meant was you would START the update on July 31st and it would take as long as it takes. Its now a month overdue and you are still working it. Maybe you should learn to set realistic deadlines so we would be better informed.

You also said once VF tuner is released you would continue to support the guys who purchased the original product. But just the other day you said no more tune updates after VF tuner is released. Maybe I misunderstand, but that sounds like you are changing the level of service you will provide from what I originally signed up for.

As for my current situation, yes I flashed back to a previous tune and I was able to go on my trip yesterday. That is not the complaint I have with you. The complaint I have with you is you said you had a fix for my ECU several weeks ago. Then you said a few days ago you would send out that fix. NOW you say I will not get the fix because of one of two reasons: 1. its not ready yet and needs to be tested by another guy. or 2. You dont like me and I will have to wait until you feel like sending it to me. I'm not sure what the real reason is, but you ignore my zendesk emails and instead respond here on the forum (despite that you repeatedly ask us to us zendesk). You leave me with the impression that because you are upset with my legitimate customer complaints I am being punished and I have been pushed to the back of the line.

You act like I'm some kind of terrible customer or something but when I emailed you to tell you about the S mode problems you immediately blamed me for not knowing how to drive the truck. Then you ignored me. It wasnt until you had a second complaint that you took me seriously, yet you STILL ignored me. Only reason I knew you were going to address this was because you said something in this thread.

If it makes you feel better Mat, you are actually the winner here. You have my hard earned money in your pocket and you are free to treat me as you please and there is nothing I can do about it. But I will not kiss your ass like all these other simps

Can someone chime in with the benefit to this/comparison vs HP Tuners ?
I saw the same back and forth OV Tune customer service and constant babysitting on Tacomaworld.
Not trying to bash anyone here... just trying to wrap my head around this... as it appears to be an ongoing thing that requires constant attention... and the customer is just the guinea pig and software tester.

I cant comment on HP but I am thinking about switching. I can tell you this, you need to constantly stay on top of Mat. He takes forever to get back to you on anything.

You know its funny, mustang guys get tune revisions for their shtbox in 24 hours. Dont expect that from OV

I bought my tuner 7/15/19 last year received a eco crap base tune and it fried my ecu some how wather it be from the tuneing software or the feets of my own fault ill never know .. Mat said he was able to fix it and so i sent it to him 4 months later of being truckless got it back with a stock tune and emailed him back for a retune and have not heard back since. Im grateful he was able to restore my ecu but has been a lost cause for a tune after that..

I do not have experience with DAP, but I have heard good things. I have a few friends that I talked to that switched from OV to HP and they are extremely happy they made the switch. With HP you have to tune it yourself. Most of the changes are easy. When it comes to ignition tables all you have to do is pay a dyno shop/tuner a few hundred and you can get your engine dialed in. You spend a little more doing it this way, but the advantage is you can have it all done in a few days instead of months or more. Plus you will have more accurate adjustments with a true dyno tune

Dap shifting and drivability was pretty decent. However, when I put my truck on the Dyno, the dap tune made less power than the stock tune. And if course, OV made the most out of all three.

My Dyno charts are on the first post on this thread if you want to see the results.

System ID changes happen very rarely. They don't happen with every windows update. usually it only happens if you make a significant hardware change to the computer or you are using bootcamp / parallels, etc. it doesn't lock to the OS.

People are not our software guinea pigs. I test everything on my Tundra and my Tacoma first. I have both trucks I purchased solely for that purpose.
however, with any software, there are updates, and things that can be further improved.
It *looks* like we are hand holding because we are continually making improvements. And I'll admit our instructions aren't always crystal clear. Not really any different than HP Tuners who puts out many beta versions.
With vF Tuner it's just like HP Tuners, you can make your own tune.

I am going to post here what I just emailed you.
Our tester on this ECU concluded that the code fix we worked on did not work, and the issue remains.

Please flash to the version before Directshift / gearlock. Until further notice, this ECU is not currently supported for Directshift / gearlock control via our custom code.

We will revisit this ECU at a later time and determine the cause.

And I will say this very, very simply. DirectShift and Gearlock via our custom code DID NOT EXIST at the time of your purchase so don't go around trying to convince people you paid your hard earned money for direct shift and gearlock.

We have not sent this version out to customers (applying to custom tunes) yet.

*** Also *** yesterday there was a small bug in 2019 files that needed corrected. It was finished yesterday, but took some time so we weren't able to get as much done as expected.

Your previous tune has everything that you have requested in it done. We will contact you when we fix and verify our code for this specific ECU.

    Thank you.

And yep, we had a big delay earlier this year. Affected everything. Maybe COVID doesn't exist where you live. dunno. One of a few issues that caused some delays.

Anyways, until further notice your tune is pretty much done. Nothing else really needs to be said.

Well, not for nuthin, but your vehicle description is literally your OV Tune order number and ECU code. Not sure what people should make of that.

It's in my description that way when I ask a specific question to Mat, he will know who his is talking to. Once everything is complete, I'll go back to my original vehicle description. Nothing but saving time.

That's crazy that your method of making sure Mat knows who you are is to put your ecu ID into your vehicle description on a public forum...

    and you're ok with that

Lovely. I didn't realize I was was buying into a cult when I bought an ecu tune.

cult /kəlt/ noun: a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

I guess being unhappy with a service is not tolerated here. I guess ov doesn't care about addressing customer concerns. I guess you don't mind begging for any scrap of Mat's attention

You do you homie. And I'm gonna keep telling it how it is. Because this new snowflake culture is the true bullshit

I’m sure many of us would have told him to eat shit long ago. But the point is, it never should have come to that. I don’t think he’s ever actually been wrong (and trust me, I love finding where he’s wrong), he’s just more direct than many here seem to be.

Sugar coating anything doesn’t seem to get a response - it’s the squeaky wheel that gets the grease apparently.

He has absolutely been wrong, lied, convoluted things etc.
it's honestly not even worth getting into. In his mind he was an ideal customer.
He even asked us for a refund and complained because his truck didn't downshift when you press the Tow haul button.
Which is literally, LITERALLY the first version of our gearlock.
    yet he wanted gearlock..........
I'm sure his posts make it look like he's that innocent customer that we totally bent over.

Feb 27th we emailed him the most up to date tune of anyone and told him no more updates until gearlock / directshift was ready for his ECU.
Yet complaints remained, every single month and up until now.

The only reason I even bother with him is because he is one of those guys who try to do lasting damage to a business because THEY felt wronged, even if they were wrong. There are other businesses that have given me "shade" because of him.

Dude. Stop with the spin. I have plenty of email traffic to back up my version of my experience in dealing with you. I have never lied or made anything convoluted.

The reason you're upset with me is because I'm the only one willing to call you out
