Does anyone make a softer front sway bar? Or is there another tundra model/configuration that uses a thinner sway bar up front?

Has anyone removed their front sway without creating seriously adverse handling issues?

I’ve read that a lot of people have removed theirs. Toyota only makes a TRD one that is thicker other than the factory one.

Do any of you guys who have removed it feel the truck is unsafe or unwieldy at highway speeds?

I would absolutely not remove it if i had stock shocks.

i ran about 6 years without mine with icon shocks. Zero problems, only slightly annoying when speeding in mountain roads

Take a grinder to it and shave it down and it'll make it softer :D

I don’t run front or rear sway bars and have never had an issue, even when swerving to avoid accidents/debris in the road. I’m on an Icon stage 9 setup so I have no idea what it feels or behaves like on other suspensions.

E rated tires make a big difference as well. If you have 45psi or more they will realy help with curves

Just disconnect the sway bar links from the arms and zip tie it out of the way. Test it out

I used to run the same setup as you and tried it both ways. With the 6112 and no sway bar i felt it was way too loose for me. Borderline unsafe IMO.

I ended up changing to fox 2.5 with dsc and removed the sway bar with no issues. But ours a way stiffer setup depending on my settings.

What sway bar are you running? Is it black or red??

No sway bar on mine for 2 years. Had the 6112/5100 setup and now on TRD Pro Fox. Never felt unsafe. You might notice a little more body roll. I noticed even more body roll when I went from 20s to 18s.

You guys that "never felt unsafe" without a sway bar must be completely numb and without any sense of feel at all.

I've tried going without a sway bar multiple times in the past and every time... it felt like the car/truck wanted to roll over on it's roof at every curve.
Its a very unsettling feeling if you have even the slightest sense of what a vehicle should and shouldn't feel like on the road. "Loose, top-heavy, unstable, unsafe"... are all accurate ways to describe what it feels like without one.

In the dirt or offroad only... "go for it" for better suspension travel/articulation... but I would NEVER remove a sway bar from anything driven on a paved road (unless you never go around a turn or drive over 20mph)... and in fact I've only ever ADDED sway bars or larger bars for the street.

The black one is the lightest one. The trd red one is even stiffer.

Just try it if you're interested it's not hard to remove and install. Like someone mentioned earlier you can unbolt it and zip tie it up for a test run.
