Yeah, if the 4Runner is any indication, Trail Editions will actually be a slight step down from the TRD Off Road versions. When building the Tundra you can't get the Trail interior stuff on any of the TRD packages, so I think they will be mutually exclusive.

From what I've read is that Toyota phased that out because that area wont be available for anything in the next generation truck. Battery space for a hybrid model one could presume.

I’m in the same boat, but wasn’t planning to upgrade until 2022. 2021 being the last year for the v8 may move my schedule up a year. My son doesn’t turn 16 until 2022, and I’d hoped to pass down the War Machine to him. Don’t want it sitting for a year though.
Like you, I’d like to have one of the last ones for resale value. Just have to see where everything stands next summer.
I’d also planned to go with a Pro, but I’d like to see Lunar Rock and Wind Chill Pearl in person. May go with Platinum if I like the color better. If neither impress me, I’ll likely just go with a white Pro. Anything but black, that’s a certainty.

If you are going for resale/rarity I would think the Lunar Rock and the Pearl would be your best bet. Every other "exclusive" Pro color becomes a standard color for lower trims a year or two later, but with these two being Pro only on the last model year for the generation it might make them hold a little more value. Not sure, my brain is not really working at this hour, but it's just a thought. Then again, how much value will a color really add anyway?

Really it being the last v8 is a bigger deal. Didn’t even consider that the colors may be a “one and done”, but that’s a good point. I’ll have to see how they look in person.
The better move is to wait until 2022 anyway, so I could compare them both. I’d bet that once the 2022’s are out the 2021’s will still be the same price. I looked at a couple of dealerships recently that still had 2019’s. They were still refusing to discount them even being just a couple of months away from being two model years old.
This year has really screwed up the way business is being done.

I don’t fear change. I just can’t believe Toyota keeps the same design for decades lol.

That’s a big part of the reason why their quality is consistently better, they don’t change as often. The big 3 never stick to a design long enough to get it even close to perfect. Toyota does.

I hope the "NightShade" black door handles are the auto unlocking style so I can replace the chrome handles on my truck.

Not totally true. They often keep the same basic frame and just re-skin it with new body panels. Engines and transmissions have undergone a lot of changes lately with advancements being implemented very piecemeal though.

Engines, transmissions, and electrical are the areas where Ford, GM, and FCA struggle the most with quality issues and those are the items they change most often.

Nevermind, disregard the below. Changing the option to black leather from beige opens up all the other colors...

After playing around on the build&price/upcoming models, I think Cement is just going to be available with the Trail Special Edition.

Debating if I should just pull the trigger on a 2020 Cement Limited, or continue to hold out for an in-person look at lunar rock and risk not being able to get a cement Tundra.

Cement is available on all trims for 2021. Toyotas build site has this issue where, if the vehicle is not available near you it wont show up. It doesn't mean you cant get it though. It looks like the only limitations on colors are with Lunar Rock being Pro only and Wind Chill Pearl being possibly model limited and having a cost mark up. If you use the site for the 2021 info, not the build site you will see all the colors available. Basically nothing was discontinued, instead they added Army Green, Lunar Rock, and Windchill Pearl.

Army Green per their site is only available on TRD models or Trail edition, or 1794 and Limiteds if they have the off road package. Appears to be available as a TRD sport.

Right, I realized that once I changed the leather off of Sand Beige... kind of strange that the site filters paint color by interior and not the other way around. How I've usually seen it the websites will show you what interior is available to the color exterior chosen... Maybe I just think into these things too much

Toyota knows that those that buy a pro to have the latest color will keep trading in the following year on the next latest color
