Beer B.S. and Review Thread

Man, I’ve been trying to make an impact lol. Think my buddy had 2 of hours yesterday and then I had a couple yesterday.

 

I still can’t back with TX beers in my cooler, idk how that happened!

 

Trying out a new chicken joint just steps from the house. They’re already winning since they have Abita.

 

Brutal Beerworks | North Richland Hills, TX.
Hypebeast | New England IPA
11% ABV, 4(?!?) IBU

I heard on the local beer FB group that Brutal isn’t great with IPAs and I see that now. This one is okay, but I wouldn’t buy it again. You can get a better IPA off the shelf at Walmart unfortunately. This one has a good amount of fruit flavor, but the whole thing has this watered-down taste that I’m not a fan of. It’s barely hoppy, and not real bitter at all like IPAs should be. 4/10 for me.

 

Yeah it wasn’t a good example of y’alls style of IPA. It looks a lot like a west coast IPA, but tasted like a garbage can IPA

Death by Snu Snu | Pineapple Cherry Kettle Sour | ABV ?

I had this on their slushy machine so the taste wasn’t the same as a pour. This was more of a combo of pineapple and a few dark cherries. It was smooth, but could of been a little more sweeter.

Orange Cream | Orange and Vanilla Lactose Sour | 6%

Poured with zero lacing.
I don’t remember the aromas, but the taste was exactly what you would have expected- an orange creamsicle. It’s perfect on a hot day!

Martin House Pils | Pilsner | 4.2%

Pours Golden with medium lacing.
Aromas of very minor hops.
Tastes of a very, very light lemon.
Extremely smooth drinking.
This is more like a beer you take camping and would drink all day but not something you would want if you want something sweet with some more flavor.

Pumpkin Spice Yeti | Imperial Stout | 9.5%

Yes, it’s pumpkin spice season! (In my best white girl cheer voice)


Pours like any stout.
Aromas of exactly that, heavy pumpkin spice.
Taste matches the aroma but with a bit of coffee taste (since it’s blended with it) Overall it’s good beer to sit next to a campfire with as a finisher.

Strawberry Sky | Strawberry kolsch
4.8% ABV

The strawberry hits your nose the second the top is popped and you start pouring. This brew is really light and crisp with a solid amount of strawberry flavor! Very tasty brew for sure.

Due East | New England style IPA
6.9% ABV, 60 IBU

This is a pretty decent New England style IPA. Nice and hoppy without being overly bitter and the flavor profile is traditional NE all the way. Solid brew!

Hatch Chile Mango IPA | IPA with chile and mango
6% ABV

I tasted zero chile in this and it really bummed me out. The IPA itself is pretty good, but without the chile it’s only half of what it should be.

 

Lone Pint Brewing | Magnolia, TX
Yellow Rose | Smash IPA
6.8% ABV, 62 IBU

I hadn’t heard of this brewery before, and happened upon a whole facing of their brews at Total Wine. A four pack of bombers was only $10 so I said why the hell not? I’m glad I tried them because this was a super tasty IPA! Very fruity with lots of citrus and kind of a lemony flavor shine above all. Real light and super easy to throw back the whole bottle. Speaking of throwing a bottle, @Areith762 did just that all over @T-Rex266’s garage floor

This taste like what you’d expect one of the big brewery’s beers to taste like if they actually tried. Really great anytime beer, especially hot weather! Drinks super light and crisp and easy to shotgun. #daybeers

Key Lime Pie | Key lime pie flavored sour
6.2% ABV, 6 IBU

I love this one! It’s like the lemon icebox pie, but key lime. The graham and lactose give you some malty sweetness, and a lot of lime comes through to really sell it. Not incredibly sour either. Big fan, 10/10.

6.4% ABV

Another sour? Yup. This one was tasty. Real light and fruity without being to overboard in sourness or acidity. Solid sour, but nothing earth shattering.

Drop Trowel | NE IPA
6.7 ABV, 44 IBU

First of all, love the name. I’m in the construction industry and have a trowel in my hand almost daily Second, this is a solid brew! I love NE style IPAs, they are one of my favorite types of beer, and this one nails it. Very tasty and hopefully @DaBoro54 might be able to find it again and drop another in my next care package
