I'll admit I couldn't tie a knot to save my life, but give me an extension cord and you'll never get the wad untangled.
...Although I make some awesome looking necktie knots.

I just made the switch over from Velcro shoes a couple of years back. Ever since Kmart disappeared it's been difficult finding stylish adult Velcro shoes.

That's a great site. But they left out my favorite fishing knot. When the guy says it covers 95% of all fishing situations he's not kidding.

Edit: my mistake, it is there. Called a Duncan knot.

    The saying goes.....if you can't tie a knot.....tie a lot.
My go to knot for 90% of my fishing applications is the Palomar Screenshot_2017-02-28-17-17-51.jpg

These 4 knots if learned will do everything you need to do.

Love me some knots. We specialize in confined space rescue at work and in my volunteer dept we do a lot of high angle rescue.

Best knot for Rapelling is the
what type of knot for a rapel? are you talking of timing the two lines together? if so then a simple double overhand would suffice. my go to knot being a former climber is a figure 8 hands down followed closely by a bowline..

can't say for recreational climbing, but for the most part very little actual rappelling is done now. Most descents are made on a belay line where you are lowered on a piece of hardware like a MPD or a brake bar rack. This way your hands are both free to navigate, perform a pick off or deal with patient care. If for some reason you did have to actually rappel you would most likely use a piece of hardware like an 8 plate, and given no other option I would resort to a munter hitch in an emergency.

The family of figure 8's is a must know for life safety.

Figure 8, Figure 8 bend, Figure 8 on a bight, Figure 8 follow through, Double Figure 8 on a bight (the standard for rescue work)

and remember a knots not a knot without a safety knot.

I wanted to add this little quick trivia question pertaining to one of my suggested knots. This particular knot had a spot in one of the all time great movies. Can anyone tell me the knot and the movie.

Yeah, I was thinking more of that knot where you can release the rope when you get to the bottom and keep going with your rope.

Or you do the hasty rappel, a favorite in the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa, which has no knots and uses the friction of the rope against your body to slow you down as you go face first. Pucker factor X 1000 the first few times you do it.

Four great knots. I would just add the (slippery) truckers hitch, and figure 8. For anyone tying fenders to a boat, the slippery clove hitch is my favorite. Also, I'm astonished by how few boaters can properly tie off to a cleat. And, throw a line, properly, forget it?
