Have mercy - another "Will these wheels fit" question

Some of you may have seen my "busted Tundra" thread where I tell the story of my wheel coming off while I was going 65mph down the highway. For all I know that wheel is still rolling and now I find myself in need of new wheels. Since I've been bleeding cash into this truck I'm looking to go budget-wise. I guy offered me a good deal on these FJ Cruiser wheels. He says they fit a 2007-2014 FJ Cruiser but was not sure about a 2004 Tundra DC 4x4. Here's the specs he provided:

Bolt Pattern - 6X139.7MM
Size X Width - 16X7.5 Inch
Offset - 15MM

They should fit fine. Tacoma rims fit, and fj/tacoma are basically the same

This is one of those cases where you don't want to find the other wheel. That's the kinda stuff that kills people in oncoming cars. Here's a mild version:

I looked for the wheel and never found it. Fortunately it was a divided highway and nobody else was impacted by it - like in the video @shifty` posted. It's a strange feeling watching your tire go by you at 65mph and then just disappear into the desert, all the while you're in a drift trying not to roll the truck.

The tires I plan to put on are 265/75/16. I asked about these wheels since they are 7.5" wide vs the 7" stock, wanted to make sure the tires will fit the wheels properly and the wheels will fit the truck properly.

 

I had a wheel come off a double axle trailer I was pulling. It went into the bar ditch, flew over the power lines, and came to a rest in a field. Farmer Joe saw it and went over to it, took a leak, then threw the tire in his truck and drove off. Just a really odd situation all around.

 

Did you have factory 16" or 17"? Do some of the DC's with 17" wheels have clearance issues with 16" wheels?

 

These 16s should fit any 1st gen tundra with the larger calipers

 

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I know which calipers I have?

According to the factory sticker, it came with 17" Alloy Wheels w/P265/65R17 Tires. The guy I bought it from changed them out to these with 265/70/16 tires

05-06 have the larger calipers.

 

One time I had a drunk driver jump the median and come head on. Last second he jerked the wheel and jumped back into his proper lane except his wheel cover popped off in the process. It became airborne like a frisbee coming at Mach 1.23 headed vertically straight for my head like a buzz saw. Last second (again) the frisbee action made the cover curve off before making contact with windshield.

One of my two Guardian Angels (or both) must have deflected both driver and cover from collision. The Angel didn’t clean me drawers, though.

 

Mine's a 2004. Does that mean they won't fit and I should part it out?

 

Here is how you figure out what other wheels/tires will fit your tundra. If you are looking at Toyota OEM wheels, type in your model/year. (offset is the ET number which is in mm).

 

Crawl under to see if you have 13WE or 13WL stamped on the calipers. The 13WL are the larger ones.

but seriously, these wheels should fit no issue. the bigger calipers have issues with some 16" wheels, but these wheels fit even without double stacked weights.

 

Go bigger!

Fo real, you might consider 275's. They will fill out the wheel well a bit more without sacrificing MPG much and they shouldn't rub. Unless you have the tires already of course.
