I said goodbye today to the Rock Warrior and purchased this 2019 Platinum at my local Toyota dealer. Only 52 miles on the odometer. It was a “leftover“ that had been on their lot since late last year. The salesman said once the 2020s arrived no one would give it a look due to Apple Car Play, keyless entry and push button start on the ‘20s. This is my 7th Tundra since 2000 and I have survived without those features so, although they would have been nice to have, I can live without them. What I liked mostly about this Platinum was the almost $8,000 discount and all the luxury features and safety nannies. For the price I got this for I could have bought a 2020 Sport Plus which are extremely hard to find in Ohio. All in all I am happy with my purchase. I named the Rock Warrior “Great White”. I thing the Platinum will be called “The Silver Bullet” or maybe “Smooth Operator”. The seats are supremely comfortable and the ride is plush compared to the Rock Warrior.

What year was your Rock Warrior? I'm debating the same thing or waiting for the 22. Prices on Tundras are unbelievable right now. Congrats

It was a 2011. I bought it last year. A real unicorn. 1st owner took meticulous care of it. I got good money for it on trade. Yep, all the 2020s in my area are advertised without any dealer discounts, just the Toyota rebate. Even this 2019 was advertised with only a $3000 discount. MSRP was $53,500 and they advertised it at $50,230. I offered them $46,000 and they took it!

What did they give you for the Rock Warrior? I have a 09 with 104k and I'm thinking of getting a Pro and want to know what the trade in value is. Thanks and great job!

Is it just me or does that front bumper seam look wonky?

It does look wonky in that photo! Caused me to go out and check. The bumper and seam look perfect. The sun was setting behind the truck so I think it caused a weird shadow on top of the bumper. Whew! Thought I was going to need a bumper alignment!

They gave me $18,500. 80,500 miles. I paid $20k last year for it. NADA trade right now is $16,800, KBB (which dealers seldom use) is $18,000 - $21,000. I put in a new battery and a rearview mirror back up camera. I actually had another dealer offer me $19,000 for it on a 2020 Sport w/o the package that has parking sensors, blind spot etc. but he was 3 1/2 hours away so I bought this loaded Platinum that was just 15 miles away. I am happy with the deal. Early this spring my Rock Warrior trade in value was almost $3,000 less than now. Trading now was a “darned if you do. Darned if you don’t” situation. When things get back to normal I look for the Rock Warrior’s value to take a nosedive. So I am happy I made the move at this time.

Check out carvana. Dealer only offered 12K for my 2013 and carvana is just under 18K.

You are probably right. Although they were asking $21,000 last year when I bought it I was able to get them down to $20,000 with no trade in. The trade in value was down to $14,000 this past March and is now up to $17,000 due primarily to the lack of available new AND used Tundras. That is why I jumped on the Platinum deal. I would have had to sell the Rock Warrior myself for over $20,000 to recoup the tax savings since I was buying a new truck.

Its funny I actually like the older 2nd gens. I have a 3rd but owned a 2nd gen that was a used lemon, if it wasnt a lemon i like the plusher seats and reclining rear seat.
