So the truck I just posted about in the other thread is my first Tundra. Over the past day of ownership, I've noticed some quirks that I've haven't experienced with other vehicles and that I'm hoping can be resolved. This is where y'all come in. Let me know if some or all of these can be resolved...
    1. If I leave the truck running just to run in somewhere, it starts beeping as soon as I step out with the key. Stupid and annoying. When I come back to the truck, I am unable to unlock the rear door using the "smart key" handle and also with the remote fob. Makes no sense. Pushing unlock on the fob should ALWAYS unlock the doors. Also, are the front doors the only "smart key" handles? Seems like the rear door handles don't do shit.
    2. Similarly, if any of the doors are open (or maybe just the driver's door?), it won't let me lock or unlock the other doors, even using the fob. Can't unlock the tailgate, nothing. Very dumb. Again, the remote buttons should do what they said regardless of anything else.
    3. When the child window lock button is engaged, even I as the driver cannot roll them down. On my previous vehicles, the window lock button kept the kids from rolling their windows down but I could still do it. Can this be changed?
    4. Is there a way to make the truck automatically lock when it no longer detects the key fob in proximity? With my Tahoe, as soon as I got about 30 feet away from it, it would lock.
    Thanks guys!

    My experiences:
    1. I've notice the beeping. It stops after several seconds. I haven't tried using the fob to unlock when returning to the truck. I'll have to check that. I CAN unlock using the unlock switch on the driver's door. The only time I leave it running is when someone else is in the passenger seat. I do agree that the unlock button on the fob should always work. The ONLY smart key door handles are the front driver and passenger handles.
    2. I haven't tried that, so I cannot comment other than to agree about the remote buttons.
    3. This is exactly how my Nissan Titan was, and how my wife's Highlander is now. It is apparently different with different makes.

Not door or window but still annoying: When I use Remote Start, the truck turns off when I open the door. This is STUPID. All the doors are locked when using Remote Start, so the only way to open the door is to have the fob with you. It's NOT a safety thing. The truck must be in Park to start and you can't take it out of Park unless you get in. There is ZERO valid reason for shutting the car off, and how much extra gas are you wasting by having to crank the truck up again after getting in?!?

You're kidding. Holy crap, that's absolutely insane. Someone tell me that can be changed.

It has been discussed in this forum but my understanding is that nobody has found a way to change it.

1 and 2 might be able to overcome with a Techstream setting. I had a Camry Hybrid with the keyless fob, and I programmed ALL doors to unlock when the passenger or driver door was touched. It took getting used to, but it worked much better.

As for 3, I hate this "Feature" there has to be a way to somehow rewire the panel to ignore the driver controls when you hit the child lock. I have even looked at disabling the children's window switch somehow to relieve stress. I hate fighting with my kids about the windows, and my controls can't override theirs, also annoying. I was hoping this was a TechStream setting, but can't find it in my version.

Oh my God! You mean when you open your door after remote starting the truck it shuts off and you have to restart it? WTF is Toyota thinking? It is so hard to put your foot on the brake and push the start button.
