Firestone Airbag Kit Clone???

Found this kit from Torque....seems to be a Firestone kit clone and it’s $100 less expensive than the Firestone kit. Anyone try it out yet for feedback? It’s shipped from Amazon so I figure if it sucks....I could return it but looks like the same exact kit to me.....

I love a good deal, but at that price difference, and the PITA to remove if I don't like it, I am going with Firestone and be done.

 

I am running Summit Racing’s airbag kit which is the Torque kit you are showing. I had fiestones on my 08 and build quality is close enough that I cant tell the difference between the airbags. I have 5k and a cross country trip on the Summit/Torque kit with no issues while carrying a 1k lb cabover camper.

 

They make a bunch of different bags from semi truck to 1/2T. I figured even if they went out of business and I blew a bag I could just buy a single firestone replacement one.

kparrow, what did you decide? Did you go with the 'Torque' bags? I am about to "Add to Cart" myself. The reviews look good with the exception of some of the bolts missing or wrong but... the customer service seems to be legit with making things right quickly!

 

I saw these when searching for a kit, very interested in seeing how they work out for you.

 

I've been running this kit for a year or two with no issues. The only problem I has is they sent the wrong airbags in the kit, but I called them and they shipped the correct ones that day. I recommend checking that you got all the correct parts before you go tearing into your truck just in case.

 

The bolts that come with Firestones kit are absolute chinese garbage anyways.

 

Received the Torque bags yesterday. Did an inventory of all the items. All good with the exception of a broken zip Tie (no Biggie) and they state in the directions that there should be two (2) fuel pump extension brackets but only came with one. Again no biggie...just a typo because it seems you only need one for install. Quality wise they seem great...no different than other products I have had in the past. I'll update after install!

 

I ended up going with a Firestone kit. NIB local for $200, couldn’t pass it up

 

I have that exact one, been on for 3 years, tow a 7k lb travel trailer and it works perfectly.

 

1. Do you need to remove the wheels to install
2. There is a set that comes with Daystar cups - are those needed?
3. A review mentioned to not cut the bump stops all they way down due to the center bolt?

2. highly recommended for articulation and preventing damage to the airbags
3. Cut them off so they're level with the top of the u-bolts or slightly lower. Or you can use a chisel and pop the whole rubber piece off the bumpstop mounting plate

 

Tell me more about popping off the rubber piece with a chisel. Is there a center stud in there I need to break with a cold chisel. Or would I pry up from the bottom of the rubber piece and pop it off the stud.

 

If I remember correctly, you can use the chisel to separate the rubber bumpstop from the metal base plate and it basically pops off. Just work around the stud in the center. You shouldn't need to chisel through any metal.
