    Hold the cruise button in and it will be in normal mode. You can go to the dealer and have the radar off when you start the vehicle and the default would be you have to activate it. Lane departure can be turned off.

    There was an updated that Toyota applies for lifted or modified grill trucks. Requires the owner to activate the radar that way Toyota isn't liable if there is a crash.

    Can you just aim the sensor down slightly with shims or washers? Seems like that would fix the problem if the issue is the post-lift attitude of the nose.

    Or did this whole thing work itself out and is no longer a problem when lifting 2020 models?

    I'm about to change out the AJT relocation bracket for the Jomax. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking about just moving the sensor down the amount that my truck has been lifted. I'll update how that goes eventually, but I'm kinda screwed at the moment. After I installed my ARB bumper I realized I probably can't get the front grill off with that bumper in the way. So, I may need to modify the grill to be able to be removed...

    No, the sensor is adjusted using techstream and targets that are set up in front of the vehicle. Lifting the trucks couple of inches doesn't usually cause a problem. The sensor has some leeway so that if a load is put into the truck (because it's a truck) or if your towing it won't cause any issues.

    Interesting. Some of the various things I have read:
    1. There is no such thing as recalibrating the TSS system; the only solution is to disable it
    2. The system will recalibrate itself after around 100 miles of driving
    3. Dealerships can recalibrate the TSS system using Techstream only
    4. Dealerships can perform the recalibration using Techstream and targets
    So confusing with the various reports. Also, how much do dealerships usually charge to perform this service?

    1. Re-aiming of the camera is done after a windshield change, re-aiming of the radar sensor is done if the sensor is removed from the grill or body work has been done.

    2. I never read any information on the radar or camera recalibrating after a certain mileage.

    3. Techstream is used to aim the camera and the radar using targets at a predetermined distance.

    4. Answered in 3.

    I think the labor time for aiming the sensors is around 1.5 hours. Apply that to the shop rate which varies.

    They are both re-aimed using Techstream? So you're telling me once some data is leaked, we'll be able to "calibrate" the system ourselves?

    Unlikely you would be doing it yourself. The radar sensor alignment needs a concave shaped triangle using a special stand and a very exact location on a perfectly level floor. The camera uses a visual target at an exact location.

    Can only Toyota dealerships perform this service? Have you ever heard of a dealership refusing to do the recalibration due to the vehicle having a different grill or aftermarket lift/leveling kit?

    The problem with an aftermarket grill or a lift when it comes to aligning the radar sensor is that it puts the sensor in position that is not in the stock location. The alignment procedure is based on the radar sensor at a stock location from the floor so it relates back to the target which is also at a set distance from the floor and the front of the vehicle. By changing the height of the radar sensor by a different grill or a lift the tech can't align because the target sensor position is no longer valid. The Pro Tundra has it's own procedure to compensate for the different suspension and grill.

    Sensor and camera work together. Both need to be calibrated at the same time. also the pro’s sensor is 2 inches lower than the other models to make up for the height.

    Do you know if you can just turn off all the TSS stuff with Techstream? I honestly can't stand any of it. I just want regular cruise control and to not worry about my truck automatically braking or possibly blinding people with hi-beams. And lane departure doesn't work worth a shit here in Montana where they rarely repaint the lanes.

    You can actually align the radar without aligning the camera. We have done both separately.

    Have the radar software update done by the dealer. After the update if you want the radar cruises to work you have to activate it yourself. It will stay off when you start the truck.

    I know you can. Before they bought back my 2018 as a lemon with all my sensor issues. The issues were spaced out longer when they aligned both of them together instead of just the sensor by itself. I’m just speaking from personal experience

    Nope, not at Toyota. Huge liability. They will apply an update to the software though. The update requires you to activate the system yourself therefore makes you liable if there is an accident from the radar not performing properly.

    I have a 2020 with a 2014-17 Pro grille, relocated TSS, ABR Summit winch bumper, 2.5" OME front lift and Toytec shackles for a 1.5" rear lift.

    Time for a dealer visit. They will make you sign a document saying you take full responsibility if you use the system and are involved in a accident.

    Have them perform a healthcheck using techstream and software update can be found there.

    I have a 2020 CM Limited, 5K miles. I have had 2 issues with the PCS. One, I was going down a 3 lane interstate at 70mph, in the middle lane. A car passed me on the left and changed lanes into my lane, with plenty of space and was obviously going faster than I was. The truck slammed on the brakes(ABS kicked in), scared the crap out of me, everything went flying, I was afraid I would be rear ended by a semi as there are lots of them on this interstate. The other time a car turned left in front of me with plenty of room, I was going about 35mph, truck did the same thing. I do not know how to get this to stop once it starts, I guess you can't. I am taking it in this week, I do not feel safe driving it anymore. This is going to cause an accident or worse.

    If you hit the gas it’s supposed to override the emergency braking. Which was new in 2018. That happened to me in my old highlander. Scared the shit out of me. Almost got rear ended.

    hmmm. The radar can judge speed and if the vehicle moves in front of you and is going faster it shouldn't react. Mine doesn't. Assholes will cut right in front of me but they are going way faster and the Tundra doesn't care. You can also adjust the follow distance and sensitivity in your dash options.

    You can turn off the pre-collision system but you have to do it each time you start the truck and then you have to look at a warning light telling you it's off the whole time.

    I've heard rumors you can have the dealer turn it off permanently but you need to sign a waiver.
