Got the Falcon suspension today

Absolutely love it! Firm and forgiving, night and day over stock. New Methods and Michelins too!

Does it make the rear ride better or a lot better?

 

It’s significant. Firm and forgiving compared to stock. Now, truthfully, when any truck gets new wheels, tires, and suspension, it’s going to be a big change! I have nothing to compare it to however...one of my Bilsteins had a leak (2nd pair on this particular truck)...I wouldn’t hesitate to buy those Falcons again. I would put them up against any units in that price-point.

 

So, how have they performed thus far? Did you go with the Tow/Haul versions or the other? How are wash-boarded roads with these?

 

Just wondering now that you have abused them a bit is all still good?

What is the lift of these?

 

It levels the truck, lifts front 2.25" inches.

Are you trying to lift your front end more or not wanting to lift it? The Falcons are adjustable with a couple different settings between 0 and 2.25 inches. They don't come locked only at 2.25. Just wanted to clarify that they are adjustable.
If you aren't needing an adjustable rear shock that let's you change depending on if you are loaded/towing or not, the billies aren't a bad choice but there is debate about how the ride compared between them and Falcons.

 

I am looking for adjustable. I'd like less than 2 inches in the front. Just enough to stop the very minor rub at full lock.

 

I believe they have 3 or 4 settings: stock, +.9", +1.6", and +2.25" or those are about the ballpark anyways

My Bilstein 6112/5160s are coming up for sale in 8 days.

 

Looks strange with that bump stop, like you only have 1-2" of up travel. That is going to be terrible off road.

 

This is great to hear. My Falcons were delivered last week but I am trying to decide on a wheel tire combo. This gives me some motivation.

 

You don't like you OR wheels? You could always paint or powder coat if you want a different finish. Those are pretty good wheels but if you sell, they will go quick. Someone is always looking for a set on here.

 

I don't think it will be a problem. I don't do heavy off road and mostly bought them for the adjustable rears. The bump stops are progressive so they "give" then increasingly add resistance so you don't hard bottom out and damage the internals. I do mostly on-road and tow a boat every weekend to go fishing. I like the ICON/FOX/Bilstein/etc. for off-road but that's not my intended use. I occasionally fish bass tournaments and at O-dark-thirty in the morning at an over crowded ramp they often end up having you park in a muddy field...thus 4WD. The Tundra is just a well equipped tool for towing my boat getting me to and from my favorite pastime.

 

LOL, what? The Falcon suspension is supposedly better than a 6112 setup and equal to better Fox setups. Mine have been buttery smooth.

 

I was thinking of powder coating them gloss black but I have been hoping to find a decent deal on the BBS Pro wheels.

 

I wish you luck! Those BBS are nice looking wheels but the OR wheels in all black also look good. If you have a good contact at your Toyota dealer, talk with them about what you are wanting. Mine has been able to find me some parts that were take offs and the price was fair.

 

Well 6112 are complete garbage so that is not setting the bar very high.

 

Half of this forum would disagree with your statement. 6112 are decent, not without flaws, but not a "complete garbage"

 

Having run Bilstiens for years I can say the Falcons are a completely different class of shock. The difference in ride quality between the two isn't even close.

 

Exactly. Oh well, wonder what suspension he's running, would love to be enlightened, LOL. All I can speak from is firsthand experience and I'm loving the Falcon setup. The lift height is perfect and the ride is amazing.
