Stoked on the BaFx Bluetoof paired up with Torque Pro App. Did a quick rundown on the truck idling in the driveway and no codes present. We have a great start!

Engine Coolant got up to and plateaued at 200° with intake temp at 95°. Didn’t mess with transmission temp other than a brief glance at 105° after a few minutes idle. This thing is as nice as they say in the 17,549 reviews.

Now to dive into it over the next week or two. I’ll be buying an OBD extender cord to tuck it out of the way.

The 4wd driveshaft I got from the junkyard has a super shot center support bearing. It would wobble around really bad up to about 20mph.

Instead of getting a new bearing, I decided to bite the bullet and have a custom one piece made. I shouldn't have to worry about a center support bearing ever again! :fingerscrossed:

I've also noticed a slight drip of ATF from where the trans mates with the transfer case. Would that be a transfer case input shaft oil seal?

I also had to disconnect those custemm QD sway bar links because they would clunk so loud that I would actually get concerned looks from people I would drive past. On a positive note, I PB blasted my frame a couple days ago in honor of PHM and his wisdom, but didn't take any pics.

@Thrussn that's a good upgrade. How is the rest of your conversion going? I'm jealous, it will probably be 2 years before I can convert mine.

I'm actually just about done. I'm running into just about every snag possible. I thought I could use the Sequoia transfer case, but I had to order the right one on eBay. It has a temporary warranty fortunately. I've got the engine harness, spindles, diff, and axles installed. I just have to do the rear regear and slap in the front driveshaft and I should be golden.

I'll make a post about it here next week sometime I'm sure lol

I like hearing that. If you could go back would you do it again, or listen to the crowd that said sell it and buy a 4wd?

Nice! The steel is sucking it all up right now. Once you get through this 4x4 tweaking you can give the frame a grease rub. Stoked for you on your 4x4 conversion. How much was that new drive shaft if you don’t mind me asking?

Yeah. Actually, I had about 1400lbs in the bed which correlates to my bump stops being about an inch off the frame. I snapped this shot to mess with everyone here for laughs.

I would do it again. It was actually enjoyable and if you have all the right parts from the beginning, I would even say it's fun.

I wouldn't want to do the trans swap alone or without a proper transmission jack.

I wanted to have my local driveshaft guy weld the current shaft I had into a one piece, but he said he didn't want to do it. He's one of those guys who are a bit different but are really good at what they do. He said he would rather build a new one from the ground up. After all was said and done, it was $350.

When doing a grease rub on the frame, how do you get it in the inside or center part towards the front? I recall you talking about a specific overlap on our frames towards the front of the cab.

That's what I expect too. When I get to the transmission part I'll likely hijack my buddys lift and so it at his shop. I can do the rest in my driveway easily.

Did you get the vacuum line figured out? I started reading a Haynes manual and then my wife wanted some crap done and I got sidetracked. I figure there are unused ports on the intake manifold that could be used.

When I saw the trans in person, I quickly learned that the lines on the a750f transmissions are just breathers with the same style vent as the rear axle. I didn't have to mess with any vacuum stuff fortunately. I have no idea how the a340f transmissions are set up, but I'd assume it's pretty similar.

I'm definitely leaking ATF and not gear oil. It must be a trans output shaft seal or something like that.

I fabbed up a flexible fiberglass rod with a sponge wrapped with a microfiber. Loaded up the wad packer with grease and went Cannon Ball Grease Packing with STP MolyEP.

I also spray the PB Penetrant up the boxed front frame which has a long range spray action. Use the straw in the side holes to get those areas closer to the front.
