    Hey All,
I'm looking at possibly selling my 2018 Crewmax Limited
    28,000 miles
    Cement on black leather
    3M clear bra
    DD BA muffler 10
    Bilstein 6112 front
    Bilstein 5160 rear
    Amp Research auto steps
    Bed liner
    Bakflip trifold
    Remote start
    K02's with 15,000 miles
It's a sweet truck that is in perfect shape. I need a 3/4 ton pickup and unfortunately need to sell it. Dealer offered me $37,500.
What are your thoughts on this trade value?
    Thanks in advance

Honestly that’s a pretty good trade in value.

Seems like a competitive offer. Now you have to get a good deal on the Ram.....

Their first offer is never their best. Depends on your local market and what other trucks are out there (I know it’s pretty slim everywhere), but counter with something $1,000-$1500 higher and see what they say. The worst they can say is no. You’re in the driver seat as you don’t need to sell but dealers need inventory.

Time vs Money. You could sell it privately for a few grand more. Maybe around 40k. See what carmax and caravana offer also. They will possibly be lower than the dealer but could be higher. Never know unless you try. Then if you try to sell locally on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace, you may get some tire kickers and “how about 32 cash” guys. Or you could get lucky here on the forum or elsewhere. The Tundra market is hit right now due to low inventory everywhere from what I have seen in other posts. Or take the trade offer (not the first one) and be done. Also, as mentioned, take those mods off and sell them on here. Everything will sell eventually and you won’t get squat from the dealer for mods.

At least in my state he would save $2250 on sales tax on his trade. Not suer what is tax rate is but needs to consider that

    So...

Typically when I trade, I do NOT disclose the trade upfront at all.

I negotiate the sales price of the new vehicle.

Once I reach my number with them on NEW...I then say, you know what - let's talk numbers of a trade now.

This prevents you from working too hard figuring out their back end numbers.

Or, as I did with my tundra. Walked into the dealership Saturday night at like 730 (they closed at 8). I said, I want stock # and I will give you my Taco and finance 20k at nothing more than 1.9% - they came back at 22k (which I was more than fine with) and walked out with a new truck.

+1, both dealers i was working with when i bought my Tundra low balled it by a couple of grand to start. One got cocky when I turned down his best offer and said I will just sell myself. I walked out when his buddy said "good luck with that". I knew what I had and it would have been easy to sell for 10 to 15% more then their offer.
