Oemaudioplus vs tech12volts?

Hi, Has anyone done a listening comparison between these two systems?

I’d be doing the dual sub if I go oemaudioplus

I’ve never heard an Oemaudio system in person but considered one when doing my truck. Watched a few install videos, read whatever I could find. Most of the reviews included a qualifying statement like “for it’s size” or “for the price” it sounded good. Nobody was ever blown away when it came time to crank it up. It also seemed like a lot of that price was for the convenience of a 100% plug and play install with factory like integration of the subwoofer. If that is your top priority it may be money well spent. I ended up deciding to give James an email with my budget and asking what he could do. I decided that I cared more about SQ than absolute easiest install. Keep in mind that I have ZERO electrical skills. None whatsoever. I was able to install everything James sold me in a long morning with a little prep the night before. Sound is great. No need to qualify it with anything like “for the price.” If you want bass, like you hint at with a dual oem sub, James’ box is as well built as any I’ve ever seen. The longest delay in his process is waiting for the heavy coat of resin in the box to dry. Mine thumps.

 

I'm still in the market to change the stereo in my DC. I was leaning towards the OEM system because I like the idea of not losing my whole storage box under the back seat. I recently watched a video on them upgrading a Tacoma and it turned me off. The amp looks pretty small and they're company rep seemed like a fish oil salesman. It might sound better, but at some point I'll want to crank it up. Like anything, you'll get used to the system and you might want more power or bass later on. I'd rather install the best I can afford right from the start and have no regrets afterward. I'm willing to give up my storage now to install a proper sub box. I also don't like that they use they're own amp. It could just be some chinese cheapo. The price is too high for what you get, IMO. I'll be contacting James soon.

Is it possible to mount a sub-woofer under either the driver or passenger front seat?

 

I was considering the OEM Audio as well. Has anyone considered Taco Tunes?

Do you have experience with Taco Tunes or know of anyone who has had experience

 

I spoke with them a few years back about a system, they couldn't answer my questions, got a bad feeling about it and decided against, now they have such a bad rep here that mods added a filter so it changes the company name to "**** ******"....that should be enough of a reason to move on.
I found out about James at tech12volt and couldn't have been happier with his service and prices.

I’ve had my OEM+ system for about 3 years. It’s just the single sub, all door speakers/tweeters, and single amp. I’ve been super happy with the quality, sounds, and fairly simple installation. I do believe they’ve made some improvements and options since I’ve bought mine, like the dual subs and separate sub amp with control knob so I can’t speak for those features. It’s 90% of what I wanted from a sound system update. The stock system was pathetic in my opinion, and I’m not a big audio guy. I do wish there was a little more volume and bass, maybe the newer options remedy that. It’s no where near the sound and volume of a traditional aftermarket sounds system though. It’s more along the lines of a good premium sound system other manufacturers put in their vehicles. If you’ve had real sound systems in the past and are looking for that again, I’d go the other option.

I don’t quite understand the hate for ********* - I bought from them too and am impressed with the sound I got from the equipment, reasonably priced and well made and had a customer service experience that was very positive.

 

I'm looking at upgrading my 2020 TRD Pro with some Rockford Fosgate equipment. My dad's old Titan has Rockford Fosgate stuff and it's excellent. This JBL stuff is not very loud and has very little bass. I'm not trying to shake the car or anything but I do want good audio quality and levels

I was looking at getting a 5ch Prime Amp for replacing the door speakers and sub. Probably all RF stuff.

Anyone have any experience with RF? Am I going down the wrong track here?

Also +1 for under-seat bass. Something my dad's Titan has that is pretty cool

 

I bought a 5 ch Rockford amp a few years ago. It s sitting in my closet collecting dust. When I first started learning about sound systems Rockford Fosgate seemed like the sh*t, but as time went on I chose another path, and never installed amp, and the sub I bought for it. I ended up buying a Rainbow Germanium 4 ch, a Deaf Bonce AAK-6000.1D mono block, and a 10" Cresendo Contralto. Sometimes I wonder if I took a wrong turn, but I will see this audio build to the end.

 

Was just looking at the oemaudio stuff. That custom drop-in sub is slick. The power seems to be on the low side but carbon fiber speaker cones look nice. Not sure I buy into the whole custom tuned thing, but appears to be quality.

Anybody else with experience?

 

I ended up going with tech12volts. I think I ordered a sealed box, but ultimately I received a ported box. Jeremy said to just try the ported box and that I wouldn't be disappointed. He was 100% correct. The bass is tight and loud. With two JL 10's and 1000W JL amp it bangs. So glad I didn't compromise for the sake of ease of installation. edit: I'm also really glad I got a ported box. It's very tight and I appreciate the added efficiency.

 

I'm considering a jbl setup from James as well. But I'm a little worried the 2 10s will be too much. I don't need to wake the neighborhood and listen to a wide variety of genres. You don't find the setup too boomy? Did you put any sound dampening in?

you can turn the 10's down via the EQ.

when tuned correctly, subs sound natural to the music. you will enjoy the 2 10's.

James will sell you a dial to adjust the subs...I love mine with the ability to adjust. I ditched the whole JBL system and eventually put in all JL speakers and amp plus Kenwood head unit. I put in sound dampening everywhere too...well worth it if you are pulling everything out.

 

Dang....I went from thinking I'll add a $400 powered sub to fill up the cabin to a couple grand in a hurry. I think it was a mistake to join the forum ;-)
