Thank you both for sharing the window sticker.

A transmission fluid cooler is still listed, but it's no longer supplemental.

Is this new fluid cooler included with every truck, even those that don't have the towing package?

According to my Toyota Owners account, this is listed for my truck.

According to this, shouldn't I also have a set of 20" wheels? Just askin'..

Mine is in front of the radiator. Even the old design in 07-10 was in front of the radiator. Where else would it be?

You can’t buy a 2019 or 2020 without the tow package.

    And it’s not a new cooler. It was called a warmer before 2019. Now it’s a warmer/cooler.

Your AC condenser is in front of the radiator just like mine. However, your ac condenser also routes cool fluid to the transmission.

They have always had the “warmer/cooler” on the side of the transmission. They deleted the transmission cooler (from the ac condenser) on the 2019+.

Yes I know. Before 2019 it was called a warmer. Now it’s called a warmer/cooler. So the window sticker isnt wrong. Misleading at best.

The post I quoted he said the trans cooler was not in front of the radiator. But that’s exactly where mine is located. He was talking in general, not specifically 19/20s that don’t have one.

I took it as 07-10 has a separate cooler altogether for the transmission.

This is a tab 8 or tab 9. I forget. But I use it in my track car to monitor items. Thats literally all I typically use it for is for at the track. Until i noticed i need to watch my transmission temperatures, then I started using it in the truck

Yes misleading. @Rex Kramer has a good point that the word supplemental is no longer used when referring to the transmission OR engine oil cooler.

Hey, like I said. I’m just going to monitor and change fluid more frequently. I’m not freaking out like some are. I just wish my new truck was as well equipped as my old one. If I had to do over again, I would’ve bought a slightly used 2018 instead of a 2019 though.

Ahhhh it is misleading but not incorrect. Its typical shady advertising.

In the past you would expect a tow package to state AUXILIARY transmission cooler

It did. Mid 10 it was integrated with the ac condenser. The 07-10 separate cooler won’t mount up to the new truck. But the condenser/cooler will so I do wonder what caused the change. I heard it was new environmentally friendly refrigerant. Toyota thought it needed a cooler for 07-18, then suddenly didn’t with no major changes.

It’s incorrect in the fact that the “cooler” that is advertised within the context of the “tow package” does nothing to increase cooling flow while towing. It’s the same “cooler” that every other Tundra has, including the 4.6 with no towing package.

The heaviest trailer that I have towed, which was well under the max capacity, caused my temp warning to come on after 70 miles of towing. To me, that isn’t acceptable.

Yep, they’re rolling the dice a little imo. Most Tundra owners don’t tow and won’t see temps over 230, whilst the ones that do are instructed to change their fluid every 60k miles. So I guess they’re hedging their bet with those facts.

I do hope you guys get some resolution. Toyota thought it was needed for 07-18, then wasn’t needed starting in 19 with no major changes.

Not saying stop calling, but you have to think if maybe 1000 people call that’s well less than 1% of tundras sold in 19/20, which was 110k for 19 and if 110k for 20 is 220k total. The other 99% don’t even know it’s a problem. Toyota’s stance has been its within spec and the lawyers probably won’t let them say anything else.

Trans fluid has been cooled using the radiator since automatic transmissions first came out. At one time manufacturers, including Toyota added auxiliary coolers with towing packages. It seems to me that some time in 2018 Toyota decided they were no longer needed. Maybe they increased the cooling capacity in the radiator itself. I would call or email Toyota.

You are probably right unfortunately. Never hurts to make the complaint though. I won’t lose any sleep over it because I’m not towing 95% of the time, I don’t abuse my truck, and I’m changing fluid more than the required interval. It’s all good.

I agree that the lack of a supplemental cooler is an issue.

i just disagree that toyota lied. They played a word game. The fact that the cooler is unrelated to the tow package doesn’t make their statement factually incorrect
