The advertised mpg's are spot on, right?

For me it came down to long term peace of mind. I bought this as my retirement truck, and I want it to last as long as I can still drive it. I bought Nicks cooler kit and it does a great job keeping the tranny in a reasonable temperature range.

The Tundra has an exemplarily record for transmission reliability so I'm betting on no problems now and with the cooler no problems in the future.

    Yes they are actually.

Even if they weren't they are "Estimated Values". I may have missed it in the fine print, but I don't think it says you may or may not have a transmission oil cooler.

My 2015 has 77000 miles. It doesn't have a cooler. Just had the trans fluid changed a month ago. There has no shifting issues or anything wrong. Just wanted to get the fluid changed. I like the idea of a cooler to prolong the life of the fluid and keep the trans cooler. Toyota can keep their hot, thin fluid for mpg. I want longevity and a cool trans.

Adam with all due respect you’re wrong on this. NASCAR cars don’t go through a 500-mile break-in period when they install a $10,000 engine (or whatever high dollar amount they cost) before they start towing, so why should we? Drive it like you stole it, as soon as you exit the dealer’s lot after purchase!!

however you won't get a free trans cooler unless you make a statement to toyota stating "you believe your transmission fluid temps are at an unsafe range"

Still looking into this myself. THis is part of the questioning on my thread

agreed! as i have stated multiple times the end result i am seeking. Toyota to put a trans cooler on. or give me the OKAY to install a transmission cooler using some of the Toyota parts and still keep my extended warranty
Ding ding ding! YOU DA MAN!

I literally TOLD my salesman i didn't have to sync my messages and contact into my infotainment to use the bluetooth connectivity and to make and receive phone call

I just noticed mine doesn't have a sunroof, I'll be calling Toyota HQ on Monday :eek2:

In all seriousness though, I don't recall being told there was or wasn't. I figured it's a Toyota, they should know what they are doing and my towing purposes will be fine. By the sounds of it, most if not all of us, are over our payload when towing too

keep pushing for answers, you need to know what transmission fluid temperatures they consider normal? ask for the fluid specs of the WS transmission fluid. Just have to keep trying ask for the "quality" team at "toyota maintenance North america"

Guess you think every truck is a 5.7. How dense! It's a 4.6 which has a different trans and only uses the trans warmer. Does not have the thermostat with lines going to any kind of aux cooler. Get your facts straight before you call someone you don't even know dense!

Watched a torque converter video by WeberAuto. Touched on a few points discussed in this thread. Was worth the watch IMO.

    Nope.

Duane Young v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.

Same as Mr. Young didn't get his temperature gauge in his Tacoma, you won't be getting your transmission cooler in your Tundra, Don Quixote.

With regards to the transmission cooler and towing package on the 2019 and 2020 Tundra, what exactly is printed on the window sticker?

That is a 4.6 trans as well. Which doesn’t have a tow package option. Perhaps that explains that picture
