I wonder how Toyota is even the largest auto manufacturer in the world with the highest recorded reliability ratings?

I heard a rumor the 2021s are going with air cooling completely. They’re removing the radiator, water pump, etc. and installing really big cooling fins.

I heard that Yota was going to start using 200 lbs of aluminum heat sinks mounted in CrewMax beds to alleviate tranny overheating since the bed isn't good for much else.....mic drop....

True. Nothing wrong with that. I hate the cam tower threads but heading back over there. A real issue that Yota is fixing. (I lied, not going back over to cam tower threads....yawning. Life is short...)

Frack! I forgot about that. I do a have slight seep going on at 115,558 miles. Might actually drip at 250K....maybe.....I'll have a hard time sleeping tonight worrying about it. Thanks for reminding me...

I have a 2015 Tundra 4.6. Does not have a trans cooler, only heat exchanger. IfI have some ideas after looking at the heat exchanger. Can I disconnect the coolant lines and connect them together to bypass the exchanger. Take the trans fluid line that feeds the exchanger and extend it to a front mount aux cooler. Then run a return like from cooler to where the exit line for the exchanger went into the trans. There are 90 elbows coming out of the trans feeding fluid to the exchanger. They make block off kits for Dodge diesels to block or bypass the exchanger and only use the aux cooler. Had one on mine. Cooled the trans a lot better with out the exchanger. Never got to cold in the winter. Our Cherokee has 2 small aux coolers and never gets to cold in the winter. My Chevelle never gets to cold, on colder days. Here is a pic from a different model. But mine looks the same. Please let me know if this is possible or anyone else has done this.

Looks Kuul! Blaaaaack! This thread was interesting at first but getting nowhere with a truly non existent problem. A potential problem...maybe. I'm sticking with the Yota engineers at this time. I prefer to see actual "empirical" data that there is an issue.

    Same here bud.

if we had a rash of trans failures I’d be losing it over the trans cooler.

maybe for now we just call it the trans cooker.

Didnt the guy that had the million mile tundra have the 4.6, with no trans cooler? Didnt do any research. Just wondering if anyone knows. Because if he didnt have it, it's probably why his reverse went out........at 700k miles.....

You mean to tell me you are trusting the guy that went to college for 8 years and got 3 different engineering degrees over a weekend warrior on a forum? How dare you?
