From what others have said on here, I'd tell them to stuff it on that anti theft charge. Dealerships will add cheap aftermarket antitheft stuff or "etch" the windows and then charge a premium for it. The Tundra already has a factory alarm system. They are gouging you, and I'd dig them back for extra $$$ for the bad faith maneuver on their part. What is the "appearance package" that they are charging you for?

    Welcome to the forum, btw.

I should also have said, It does not matter what anyone else thinks. If you like the price, and the truck, that is all that matters.

Thank you thank you for the input.

My initial "happy" price was 10% off MSRP given my local sales tax is almost 9%.

I countered with $47,500 + TTL out the door. :fingerscrossed:

Asked them to take off the Aftermarkets but haven't gotten a reply yet.

The big thing is you have to be willing to walk away. If they come back and won't budge, are you willing to tell them "Ok, well I'm not interested then. Call me when you want to sell it for what I offered."?

I bought in 2018 so the market is different now, but I would ask for another $500 off because every little bit helps. Don't get caught up arguing about different fees, just tell them that's what makes it workable for you. If they don't do it you can still drive over there and get your truck at the price on the offer sheet. My dealer (sales manager) told me on a Saturday they were already below market blah, blah. He actually acted insulted that I would ask for another $1000 off. They called me that night to ask me come in Sunday morning to look at a different truck. When I got there they came up with the $500 to meet in the middle and sold me the Tundra I wanted. If your courteous, it never hurts to ask. Good Luck!

Agree, that is definitely the biggest upper hand we have as the buyer. I have walked on almost a dozen Tundra deals so far. At the end of the day, this is a WANT and not a NEED.

Being in the Bay Area, it seems the dealers definitely have a shortage currently.. and if they lose me, there's another happy buyer right around the corner.

I appreciate the precious time everyone is taking to help me out here. Really looking forward to contributing more to this forum in the future.

I talked to a dealer probably a few months back and they basically said that no where is giving anything off from MSRP due to shortage of vehicles available. At least in my area.

I’d tell them to take off the anti theft and appearance package - pure profit and you don’t need it.

This is a great question. Usually the dealer will tell you this to "show" you how good of a deal you are getting. The invoice isn't the amount the dealer necessarily paid for the vehicle though. Dealers get dealer discounts like a rebate off of the invoice amount. Usually you can get them to go a little lower then that. Just depends on how bad they want the sale.

I got a 2020 Platinum 4x4 with moonroof and factory Bedliner (and Tundra Stamping) for the same price. So I think you can do A LOT better.

The offer on a limited was in the ~44-43,000 range if I recall.

After a few back and forth, this $47,760.75 is their "final". About $500 more than what Medinasmoke paid.

Now I can bust out I have a trade-in and see how much further we can take this.

Hope many dealers are you talking to?

If the answer is "many," great, now pit them against each other further... if the answer is "none," then of course that is their "best" as they laugh at you in the back room while"discussing" your deal.

Picked up a 2020 platinum 4x4 last month for $49k + tax and transfer( MSRP was $55.5k). Same dealer is now only doing about $700 off. I guess lower supply is making deals harder to come by...

Actively only talking to another one. They both have slightly different options so its not exactly apples to apples.

I have not pit them against each other ... yet

If some options are a must, I'm sure you know this already, but you limit yourself on the best deal.

I really wanted nav as an option but realized quickly that I could get the best deal by just going for the cheapest CM OR. I then paid 200 from another member for his oem nav HU. saved a bunch of money by focusing on the dollar knowing there is always an aftermarket solution for cheaper.

Keep us up to date and start being ruthless and pit them. I called out of state dealers and said can you match this or beat it. I told them I would drive there that day. I actually ended up doing that, because the dealer out of state wanted my money more.

Anyone looking to travel I would look in Houston, Texas. They have vehicles. Rebates are great. Dealers are discounting.
On top of rebates I got about 4500 dealer discount on a 2020 Red Crewmax, sr5, 4x4 TSS Special Edition, Leather Pkg., and spray Liner.

Are you aware of what the rebates are on this vehicle and which ones you are eligible for?

I just leased (July 29) a 2020 4x4 Tundra Limited CM. In fact, it was delivered this evening.

I live in FL but wound up getting the truck from a dealer in PA. Dealers near me would not give me anything close to what I gt in PA.

I thought about buying the truck, but wound up leasing it instead. The terms were just too good to pass up.

The MSRP on mine was just over $53K and they sold it into the lease at $46,650 and then deducted the $2,500 rebate. My lease payment is $435/mo (inc. FL 7% sales tax) with $2K DAS on a 36/10k lease.

Yes its 2500 Cash Back or the financing deals. I usually opt for the CB and finance through my CU.

Unfortunately, this particular truck sold while I was still negotiating. The cavalry blue search continues.. thanks you everyone for their help and support!

17% off sticker is historical "good deal" if you forfeit the promotional financing.

Covid slowed supply, Covid reduced demand, stimulus increased demand. Hard to know where things are at right now.

I will say in March/April I found as many dealerships that wouldn't budge as I did that were willing to cut a deal. They are like people, all different, don't let one or two set your expectations.

I havent found a dealer here yet that will budge. It is a better deal to get a new one as well. Used prices are outrageous. I wont be buying one any time soon.

Lose all aftermarket stuff and wtf is a 'documentary' fee lol? Are they making a Michael Moore film? But seriously. That 'documentation' fee should be like under $100. I got ALL aftermarket cost eliminated. My aftermarket included almost 2k in added options, and after they eliminated FULL COST OF them, some were still left on the truck because they could not remove them! Say you don't want them. They will deduct all or a large percentage and leave some of them on. If they won't eliminate all cost of Aftermarket, at least half. Good luck.
