My turn.traded in my 94 80-series for her. Nerf bars and the aftermarket Sony radio have...got...to...go. Nerf bars to be replaced with sliders. Radio and speakers, still researching.

 

beautiful! That's the ideal body scheme for me. That color, no flares, it's perfect!

V6 or V8?

 

She is a lovely, low-ish miles V8 baby!

Never driven a Toyota before, drove plenty of Ford's, Chevy's & Rams; never had the pleasure of driving a Tundra.
Very surprised with the amount of power it had with the smaller V8.
It doesn't handle like a truck, I really noticed thatdthat from Sedona to Flagstaff.
I'm very impressed and it left me scratching my head as to why I've never gotten around to owning one.

 

I'm with you 100%. I had never owned a Toyota until I bought mine 4 years ago because it had been drilled into my head that "if it's not a Chevy or a Ford, it ain't shit!" by my family. But after I bought my 05 Tundra, I wanted to kick myself in the ass for not getting one sooner

Needless to say, when I met my now-wife, and I drove her Camry and saw how many miles it had on it, it cocked my brow. I got her to buy a Honda Accord to replace it and it was fine, I've owned several. When the first of the kids came into the picture, we bought a Highlander. From there it was all over. Toyota everything ever since, going on a decade or more now.

My Dad, a GM guy through and through who owned the same year/make/model Sierra as me, followed suit a couple years back and bought a Tundra after he got sick of all the mechanical crap going wrong with the Sierra. He must've had the intermediate shaft replaced 3x on his Sierra while he owned it. He loves his truck.

Anyway, I can't complain. Only time my truck has ever left me stranded was when the alternator burnt up after 12-something years, not too long after I got the truck actually. USAA took care of me. $350 and a 12-pack of cold yellow beer at my favorite shop for Denso reman parts & labor, she's still going strong.

PS I wish Toyota would return to making something closer in size/strength to the 1st Gen Tundra. I don't need to drive a damn short school bus daily to get a V8-loaded pickup.

 

Then and now. My camera phone must really suck ass compared to some of yours. My pictures always look rough.

 

Looking good....but it's begging for a rear bumper to balance the front bumper and sliders....

 

I agree. The rear bumper is expensive though! I think I'm going to do leaf packs first as my current setup is pitiful.

Where did you get that grill/ did you mesh it yourself?

 

Thats a Tundra Yamaha edition, They came oem with tge mesh grille. The yamaha and the Darrell waltrip were the two that came with that mesh grill. I think in oem colors, the grille can only be found in silver and that Blue.

Those Yamaha editions are pretty rare though, Pretty sure they were only available in canada

Im pretty sure you can still order them off Toyotas website. Obviously they only fit double cabs though

@Casper421 what roof rack system did you use? I'm looking for something similar that holds kayaks but on the cab only.

 

It’s the INNO aero rack system. No complaints, does it’s job. I just strap my old kayaks to the crossbars but I believe they have cradles for sups and kayaks.

She's dialed in. Really digging the things I've added this summer, especially the sliders.

 

Damn I actually really like the campers with the side open windows.

 

Yes I'm really thankful for those. I wish I could get more air flow for the dogs but we just run a fan back there for them instead.ive I've seen some that fold out like this but also have a sliding portion so you get both.

 

Yep, that's a must-have on a cap IMO. If mine had them, I probably would have kept it.
