3D Printed Vent Ring Covers

So I got a 3d printer to keep my fidgety hands occupied during covid. One of first tasks was to delete some of the frigging chrome that blinds me while driving so I started with the vent rings. I'd call this one a success. If you have a 3d printer and want to print yourself some, I've uploaded the files for it on Thingiverse

I went with red to go with the red trim on the Trd Pro.

 

Do they go over top of the chrome? Or are they complete replacements?

 

They just snap on top

Thanks. I’m not planning on selling them though. I don’t have enough time in the day to start a side business. I can tell you this though. 3D printers are super cheap now, and a fun hobby

Ok I’ll run some this week and do a test fit and make sure they are good to go. Once confirmed I will post back and start taking requests. I need to know how they look and install in real life before I go promising a bunch of rings for you guys.

 

Seat belt silencers? From wind shudder when the windows are down?? I'd definitely be interested in some of those!

Edit: never mind @Swfltoyomafia I just looked at your thread about these. It's for the seatbelt chime. Thought it was for that annoying flapping the seatbelts get when the windows are down. I need to find a fix for that

Make sure to post some close ups of the finished surface texture. Many people don't realize that 3D printing does not produce a smooth OEM-like surface. I would hate for you to go through the trouble to have people send them back or complain here about quality because they expected something different.

 

This is exactly what I’m thinking. Plus I want to see how they are on the installation side of things do they hold up to speed bumps dirt roads and such.

 

Just to be clear, I’m not making these for sale. I just made the 3d files available for free for those of you that have access to a 3d printer and want to print them. This is more of a DIY project.

Came out great! I print on painters tape usually so I’m going to give these a quick sand and some spray paint. Fit is perfect great job!

 

i kinda like the textured. but for me i'd prob like smooth. i was kinda wondering how the density of the ring would be and if it would be a possibility to sand smooth.
