Ok so 8 yards of rock later the landscaping bed is full. I don’t want to run a drip line to it so I wasn’t planning on putting any plants in there. I may buy some bigger sized boulders to throw around in there though to give it some more depth. Really like this ‘wood stone shale’ rock though. It has a bunch of reds, grays and blues in it. Unfortunately it’s about 2.5 times the price per yard of basalt so that sucked :/

@Yzed608 Striping is just laying the grass over and the light reflecting off of it differently. Simple to do.
@CodyP most things I've seen on YT, you can do it for around $15. Or like me, free...just what ya got lying around the house.

So they did a great job building my tuff shed , however they didn't level it for shit. I had to level it myself as there was a noticeable lean whe. You walked in it not only side to side but also front to back. Not hard to fix but annoying. They said as long as my yard was not more than 4 inches out of level , they would shim it level. In reality all the did was figure out the left side was low so tossed a deck block on either side of the low end and called it good. I put a level inside and used my 4 ton floor jack to jack it up and place deck bolck and shims and got it perfect. Now however the door is not aligned so I had to call them to come back out and fix the door. If it wasn't for that they did a great job but when its something as simple as putting a level on the floor and making it right its aggravating when it doesn't get done. And my yard in that spot was not more than 4 inches out of level , I staked and line levelled it prior to the installation. It was 4 inches exactly at the worst part.

Yea i would have built it myself but tuff shed comes with a warranty which I liked and when I priced it out their pricing was within like 500 or so of the material cost for me to do it so I didn't figure it was worth my time. They did a really good job otherwise but its the little details that will piss people off lol

Been sealing my expansion joints with SikaFlex self leveling sealant. Did the first of 2 fills on the transition between the cement driveway and asphalt portion, tired of stuff growing up between that transition. Ran out though, will have to go get another couple tubes. Also got a second coat on all “external” facing wood bits of white stain. Have been slowly painting all the “internal” portions of the joist. I loath whoever built this balcony and didn’t stain it before assembling. Now it’s a giant pain in the butt. ALWAYS paint or stain before assembly!

Yesterday but was too sore to post. Over the next 2 years or so I want my back yard to become like Hawaii, minus the beach.

I've been fighting with my wife over this theme since we got the house, she's finally liking the idea. She found a guy selling banana trees on Facebook and says "honey let's buy these, only $50 for the both and he will dig and help load them in the truck".

    Sure.

We get there and hes an older Vietnamese gentleman, very knowledgeable and shared a lot of care tips. Unfortunately he wasn't as helpful with lifting, but thats okay. I got them into the truck and I will feel it for a few days.
    20200806_184640.jpg

Dug a hole in the corner and put them in the ground. I will keep an eye on them for a while. Now I want more, but next time I'll stick to buying under 3' tall, that fence is 6 feet tall.
    20200807_123622.jpg

Yes, I am cutting that palm down little by little. It will be gone by Christmas and I'll plant around it next Spring.

You should have a half dozen next year, granted I dont know how the growing season works in so cal but here they die off about oct-nov and I cut them at about a foot high dec-ish. First warmer day in March-ish the shots come up from the cut stocks.

I had a problem with the garage fridge today. Someone put too many beers in it after I got home from work. So to remedy that situation I had to sit in the sun in my back yard and make room in the fridge.

Removed 2 sprinkler heads that I didn't need and ran some drip line kits I found on Amazon. I tested them with the garden hose and they worked pretty well, my sprinkler line has more pressure so I'll tune them using that tomorrow. If they work well I'll post a link.

Excuse the burned leaf, that Lilly didn't acclimate well but it will recover when I crop it.
    20200809_195633.jpg

Also my wife said "Honey this guy is selling plumerias!" I thought I would have to get the shovel out again but they were potted and super cheap. Turned out to be 2 blocks away and a fellow Toyota guy. After chatting with him he told us take whichever one you want for free! So I took one and bought two others. I'll likely plant the free one and give the others to my in laws as a gift.

These have white flowers with yellow centers and pink edges, pretty nice.

Yup, sound advice. I sprinkle mine once a week, the rest of my plants get a good water twice a week. When I test this drip line tomorrow I'll see what the lowest setting is like, if it's more than I want I'll shut it off and continue hand watering the plumerias.

Honestly if I weren't the kind of guy who can't keep a consistent schedule of anything I would just hand water the whole garden. I find it super relaxing hanging out there looking over the plants and spraying them while I drink a beer.

Project finished. I only had one superfluous hole to cover and hit the studs by finding the stud from the outside and measuring from the inside corner.

A trick I learned this project was to tape a small washer over my drill marks on the tile as a guide to keep the bit head from wandering.

Had kind of a day off today (Show up at 5:30 and told that we just need to clean up and got home, inspector's walking the stadium) so I did a few things. Hung a shelf in the garage so I could put lesser used thing on it, so I could make room on the work bench for a charging station for the various DeWalt and Ryobi battery chargers I have. I got some Stanley saw horses from Home Depot and hung them on a wall out of the way. Then to the backyard for some Scotts turf builder seeding. Hopefully those take to the horrible dirt and I can get a nice lawn.

Replaced the pressure relief valve, extol tank, spirovent, and cleaned up after my furnace and water heater exploded water all over. It didn't fix the issue. Looks like I need a new indirect water tank. I can play around with the valves to keep the pressure low enough to get a tank of hot water every 2 days but thats it. Pain in my ass. Because of the hurricane here the plumbing/HVAC guys are swamped. It'll be another 10 days or so til it's fixed.
