I built a low profile platform for some tool bags and material to go in back along with dogs. Has two compartments for storage of special things. Not finished yet have some carpet trimming to do.

I will probably drill two holes and pop some grommets in for finger holes to open it. I have high density foam ordered for my special tools one of which name is Glock.

Finally finished except for the foam. That will get glued in and cut out for noisemakers????

Very nicely built. Good work. I want to do a similar build except underseat storage for my double cab.

Its fantastic!! Exactly what I was going to do but without storage. Did you keep any measurements? :)

Also, if needed, will the seats fold down on top of it?

My goals were a flat floor for:
    * storing gloves, extra clothing, etc when out on jobs
    * hauling dogs on occasion
    * throwing material in there to keep dry
    * If I am on the road and need a quick place to crash it’s flat so makes for comfy sleepy surface for a few hours
    * while on the road place to store plenty of noisemakers out of site

It’s lightweight so I can remove easily and if unexpected passengers need to hop in for a short ride the rear seats will still fold down. I could have gone with the under seat storage but it’s expensive and if you pull the seats/ carpet then measure the grey styrofoam pieces you cut through you don’t gain anymore storage than this.

Anyhow that’s the motive behind my madness.

Thanks for all the positive comments!!! All in I have about $150 in material and 3 days labor so it wasn’t difficult just time consuming.

If I didn’t have that dog leg for the AR to fit it would have been much easier. But if you want an AR to fit you have to make enclosure with cutout for floor hump. Then to carpet all the interior areas was a pain but it looked better and no rattles.

These are the pieces of styrofoam you cut through that are directly under your seat below the carpet for the under seat storage. So when you use those to gain the needed height it goes up from floor below seat about 3”.

‘I needed storage plus flat area for these guys

I had the idea of cutting out the foam and putting in a pelican case. Has anyone tired this? I know clearance would probably the issue.

Well I found my next project! That is great. I was originally looking at the ESP under seat storage lock box but I have weathertech floor mats and that would have been a pain to take the rear floor mat out just to get into the storage. I much prefer this and so will the dog.

If you have measurements they would be greatly appreciated!

The ESP wouldn’t require you to take out your floor mats those are totally under your seat but they have to use a raised lip to give you 3.5” Deep of storage. Yes your dogs would hate that.

I had my 120 lb Rottie and my 50lb border collie in there and they loved it.

I think the width was around 60” and the depth 32”, if you don’t plan on putting a short barrel firearm in the storage that would make it much easier to build. You wouldn’t have to curve the bottom of the unit in the middle to accommodate the floor hump
