I tried to play this game last weekend at my moms. I was clearing her garage and decided to part with a really nice JL wedge box for a 12, I set it down on the curb.

An hour later my brother came by and grabbed it. :rofl:his wife was pissed.

    Yup, we're Mexican.

We have "Alley Gypsies" that claim anything set out near our trash carts. My compadre goes camping ~ comes home and washes his gear and leaves it to dry up against the fence in the alley.
He comes out later to retrieve the stuff and finds someone loading it all into the back of his vehicle.
"I thought you were giving this stuff away," says the Alley Gypsy.
In our neighborhood anything and everything left in the alley is up for grabs.

There is a joke I heard about this once. If you want something gone and put "free" on there it might stay. Stick on a sign that says "$10" and someone will take it within a few minutes. Without the $10 of course.

    This ^^

Always fuse power lines. What happens if, for example, the wire got sandwiched in a hinge, or you had a frontal impact which shorted the wire? You now have a direct-feed line from the battery with no fuse to stop it from arcing out. Recipe for a fire == no bueno.

Does anyone know if there is anything sensitive under this area? Middle of the back seat area. I need to drill...

Vacuum port on the intake manifold. Mine is capped with a rubber plug as shown in your second picture. If you don't have the plug installed like in the first pic you'll have a vacuum leak that will likely cause rough idle etc.

If you are careful with the drill depth I think you're fine. I ran my power wire for my sub through there and didn't notice any other wiring. You aren't likely to hit your gas tank through there, you've got 2 layers of metal and a good gap.

Put your hands in there and feel around first but I'm pretty sure there is nothing.

Yep. Got it mostly done. Just need to find a way to secure these boards to the truck in a way that makes the most sense and fewest holes.

I'd probably run at least 3 short verticle wood supports between the block of wood and the metal compartment. If you feel around the inner wall of that compartment facing your block there are some holes you might utilize.

Forgive my amateur hand model diagram.

So is it just the double cabs or all tundras like this? Why in the first place not put an oh $hit handle on the driver seat but still place 1 of the 2 bolts? Wondering if this would be a good mounting location for.....something

I don't know about others, but the middle of my "back seat area" is very sensitive and I would wholeheartedly object to any drilling! Maybe you could as someone at "The Gym"?

It could be for access to vacuum if Toyota calls for it in some type of service/diagnosis, or maybe for a boost gauge for the supercharged option. Capped vacuum ports are pretty common on lots of engines.

I've been using this magnetic mount for years in many different vehicles but it may not work too well if you're off-road or on unmaintained roads. The mount has strong magnets and you use one of the included thin steel plates on your phone/case to hold it. Not wanting to stick the adhesive plate directly to my phone, I've just placed it between the case and phone and it works but I've recently moved the plate to the outside of my phone case and it's a much stronger magnetic hold. I like this type of mount because you just grab your phone, no need to squeeze or unlock it with two hands.
Now if you're looking for a bombproof, "wont come out of the cradle no matter what" phone mount then this is the one I use on my dual sport motorcycle. Phone doesn't budge no matter what type of terrain I'm riding. But it's pricey.

Pro Clip. It is expensive vehicle-specific custom mount, but I love it. Have one in every car, each mount is different. (no affiliation...)

Unpopular opinion: just holding your phone is way more safe, especially if u know how to use your phone without looking at it. I find it way worst having to look up at the dashboard and use it. Unless your using it solely for google maps i guess.

I've got a pop socket on my phone and use the vent clip for it. Holds it surprisingly steady and in whatever position.

It's illegal as hell in my state and cops will pull you over in a heartbeat. Hands-free laws are popping up all over the US right now.
