Liked the idea too but had to added a "Leg" support since it doesn't fold all the way down into the bed. Good idea poorly designed by ARE. Z top also interferes with operation of track system on mine.

I think I forgot to put these here but this BedSlide seems like a decent way to work out of the 8' bed and not too bad an impromptu Diving Board either if the need arises!
This one was cheap and locks every foot or so too which seems like a great feature now that I have tried it.

Also notice the Rostra Brake Light Camera above the door?
Nice to get the camera back after losing the tailgate for the Cap!

I like the idea of a contractor cap for added security. There’s times my truck is parked for a week at a trailhead.

Like Junior, put a deposit down on a cap today, Ranch tho. I checked prices, features, etc, and drove myself nuts. Leer 100XR, Century Ultra Sport, Ranch Fusion, but I ended up with the Ranch Sierra standing at the counter. Basic, and allowed me to add rails and flip down slider window and not break the bank. I have a keyless entry that I made that I pulled from my Taco that I can adapt to the aluminum frame back window too.

Huh. I haven’t noticed an issue with either. The front windows doesn’t fall flat, but then again I don’t run around with it open anyhow??

I sometimes use it as a pass-between from the cab to bed. Or, to haul extra long boards. In any case, it's a lot of unsupported weight on the hinge and cap. Simple fix was support leg. Also, thought of adding struts, leg was easier. That and the obstruction of the track system by the inner lip didn't excite me on a cap that costs nearly $3K.

When I ordered my Leer, I asked about flip-down/sliding front window and was informed that Leer does not flip down anymore due to the strain. They now simply come out -- which makes sense. Only 2 weeks 'til my cap comes in.

I can appreciate that. Enjoy the new cap and make sure it doesn't obstruct your track system... that's a real pain. Didn't compare to Leer before I bought ARE. Should have done my homework!

Just found one on good 'ol craigslist. Looks like it's an ARE CX in desert sand metallic. Has liner, front sliding + fold down window, side sliding windows, and roof rack tracks. Picked it up for a whopping $150.

Only catch is, the back window is broken off. Glass is good, but the frame is jacked up and the window is ripped off the hinges. Any ideas on a fix? Looks like the window frame is riveted in. Thinking about going to a dealer to see if they can fix/replace. It'll prob be $$$, but maybe worth it for how cheap I got it.

I wanted a Leer 180 for more head space when I camp out the back, but quote for new I got up here in Alaska was $2,850. Glad I waited and scoured craigslist everyday for 2 months, ha. Here are some pics of my ugly ass truck.

First Tundra with an ARE CX Revo (at least in my area)! Love it! Waited for a year and a half for this as they were making them for the newer model trucks first.

Got my cap on this weekend. Also washed the truck for the first time this year :anonymous: The cap is a Century, not sure on what model, but it looks pretty basic, so probably the Royal. It came off a 2008 Tundra and from what I can tell, it spent its whole life in Milwaukee until I got it. Cost me $415 to buy, $150 in gas to get it, 1,100 more miles on the Tundra, and one vacation day.

I noticed quite a bit of water dripping inside the bed through the cap windows when I washed the truck, so I'll have to replace the weather stripping I suppose pretty soon. Not super thrilled about that, but I am happy with how it looks on the truck!

I get a small amount of water in my brand new cap when I pressure wash it but it's completely dry in heavy rain. So depending on how much water you're talking, maybe you don't need to replace the seals just yet.

Thanks for pointing that out. It briefly crossed my mind that pressurized water coming in from a more horizontal angle might get past the seals more than rain water, but then I went back to assuming more $ and time spent on a Saturday. Probably could test it by dumping a bucket of water on top of the cap. But then I'd have to wash it again already :annoyed::frusty::boom:

I've reached out to 3 local A.R.E. dealers via A.R.E's quote form and haven't heard anything. Is there a trick to this?
