I had a 2015 for 3 years. The ONLY complaints I had about the truck was the 26 gallon gas tank and the dim headlights, which ultimately ended up being one of the major reasons I bought a newer model.
Performance wise, it was a solid truck.

I should say, the headlights weren't dim.....they just don't illuminate the road all that well.

Yes, 2016 they started offering a bigger tank, and I believe it's on SR5 trims and above. I don't believe the base SR model gets the larger tank.

I love my 15. Of course led headlights would be nice. Just got a good deal and jumped on it. No regrets. Trouble free since day 1.

Not much if any change from 2014-present. Except for things mentioned like bigger gas tank and LED lights on some models. There are two V8's offered; 4.6 and 5.7L. Many prefer the 5.7 with more power but the 4.6 is very capable.

Don't get a 15. The small tank is terrible. Even worse, don't get a 16+ with a small tank.

I owned a 15 pro for 5 yrs. Never had a problem with that truck. Not even a recall! The headlights are adjustable. With the inside adjuster all the way up I felt they were to low. So I turned the adjuster ring on the back of the headlights 2 full turns. That brought the beams to the desired height I wanted. I never felt like I wanted more after that. The 26 gallon tank never bothered me. I have a gas station on my way to work so it was very convenient to get gas. I would usually fill up around 250 miles. On trips I needed a little break after that anyway. Hope this helps your decision.

Of the 3rd gen years, 2015 is the only year with zero recalls or TSB’s. It’s also the only year that shows ALL categories of ratings in consumer reports as”best”.
I did replace the 26g tank on mine.

Love my 2015. I have not had any major issues with it. It has been a solid truck. I have replaced any items that I did not like suck as the headlights. I put the 2018 LED headlights in it. Other than that its a solid performer.

Have owned my 2015 SR5 TRD double cab for 2 years.
Love this truck. Spacious, strong, sporty.
    Had 19,700 miles when purchased.
    Now at 31,000....not 1 problem.
I DID replace the headlights, fog lamps and interior lights to LEDs.
I thought the 26 gallon tank would bother me, but it's just like any other truck I have owned so no big deal.
Changing the oil with the cartridge set up is a bit different, but not a problem at all.
Hope you buy it! 23K is low mileage.
    You won't be disappointed!

I got the 46g transferflow tank installed by a local shop.
Cheaper than the 38g OEM tank.

I'm so on board with the 46G Transferflow! Currently have the 26G tank on my 2015 1794... really don't like the size, light comes on after 20G. We are about to be on deck to buy a trailer, so towing long distances with a small tank will get annoying. I've been quoted roughly $2100 in AZ for the tank and install ...

This process of buy a truck has been frustrating and exhausting. First truck I wanted they guy said no worries he'd sell to me on Monday when banks opened. Then ended up selling Sunday night behind my back after promising it me. So F'ing pissed.

Second one in Texas and guy has gone radio silent but still posted. Block called him the other day and he said its mine but went radio silent again.'

The 2015 was in Oklahoma and guy was cool but I stalled since it was a 2015 and I really wanted a 2017 or newer. But one decided I was pulling the trigger and he ended up taking an offer from another guy. I blew that one....

No Double Cab 4 door 4x4 in CA Private Party and few at Dealers without paying a grip of cash. Lots of them East of the Mississipp1 though....

The search goes on but good info from you guys. Just want one so I can start the fun building it.

I have a 2015 SR5 DC TRD that I bought with 9,000 miles certified. The only issues that I have had was a tranny issue that was fixed by Toyota with no problems. I have 65k on it now and it sits in the driveway. I have been seriously thinking of selling it due to this whole CVD. We are doing well with one vehicle.

On any used tundra, I'd be sure to check out the underside of the bed for signs of rust. Look where the crossmembers meet the bed floor pan. Do a search if you are not familiar with this issue on tundras.

It was a serious problem on gen 1 and gen 2 trucks. I'll let you know in another few years if its a problem on gen 3 ;)

Good truck that too with low miles dont stay for us. I Purchased an used 2016 TRD DC with 26 gal tank, dont really bother me.

Good Tundras that too with low miles dont last in the market long, I purchased a used 2016 TRD DC with 26g tank months ago. The tank never bothered me. On longer trip may be a sleek gas container secured on the bed will take care of that issue. Its a great truck with lots of power, NO recalls or defects. Having owned a 07 before i see a good improved design on the frame. Good luck.

    **UPDATE**
Found a 2016 5.7L 4X4 with 15K miles-38 gallon tank and flying up to buy it tomorrow. Older retired guy bought and figured out he didnt need it. His loss my gain and now for some fun to put about $10k into it and buildit up.

I hear you...I WFH even without Covid. Might put 2,000 on my 2015 this year...only 31,000 miles on it total.
BUT it's paid for! Will be hanging on to it.
Still comes in way too handy throughout the year... especially pulling people out of snowy ditches in the winter! (Michigan)

I upgraded to the pro LEDs on my 2015. Awesome lights. The gas tank outlasts my need to stretch and wee, so no issue.
