    You'll be fine with a 285/75/16. You'll rub frame a little bit but it's not bad. You'll need to do minor trimming on the body and maybe front bumper.

    16x8 with 4 inch BS is the sweet spot on a gen 1. Clears the frame and does the best job clearing fender

    What size tire are you looking to run?

    Based on a 285 tire:
    4" BS with an 8" wheel is best
    4.5" BS with an 8" wheel is good, minor rub on frame and hardly any rub on body
    3.75" BS with an 8" wheel won't hit frame but will rub body more.

    You'll be alright. No matter what wheel if you run a 285 tire you'll have to do some minor shit to make them not rub. The frame rub will only be at full turn. I don't even notice it, I run 4.5 backspace.

    You can always tack on a small piece of metal onto your steering stops right? That prevents frame rub

    Ehh, you could tack a little block on the lower arm where the ball joint hits but not sure that limiting steering that way is worth the effort and might even be bad for the rack. I've had 4.5 bs and 285s for ten years and I wouldn't bother since I'm in a rust free state.
