Husband's first-gen has the 4.7, my third-gen has the 5.7 and unless you're towing constantly like he and I do I honestly don't think it'd be worth it to trade up aside from having the latest and shiniest new toy..

Where it's not my money though I'm gonna say BUY ITTTT :anonymous:

Haha Crystal says spend that money lol. We have a travel trailer but the dry weight is only 3844 lbs. I do love my 2nd gen though as you can tell by the pics. I just have the baby 4.6 lol.

I bought my 08 in August 2008, it was built in like october of 2007. It had maybe 20 miles on it when I got it. It was fine.

Problem is the inventory is extremely low. Prices are reflecting that. This is about as far as they will budge, but I will on the delivery charge as mentioned earlier.

I would wait for another 6 months before buying. Do you desperately need a new Tundra right now?

I agree, it is 50-50 right now to think anything will get better. However i think supply chains and production better meeting demand will improve over time

I, too, am in the Tampa Bay Area and I have been also shopping for a Tundra since b4 this pandemic started. I have watched all the area Toyota dealerships go nearly dry with trucks. Supply is on their side, but sorry, I wouldn’t pay nearly $40k for a new SR5 DC with steel wheels. I am not seeing other truck manufacturers with the shortages that I am seeing with Toyota. Because of this shortage and these prices, dare I say I am now looking at new F-150s.

Yeah and they arent budging on prices either. I was dealing with Courtesy in Brandon but their customer service is horrible. They have 2 DC's that have been on the lot for a month now.

You got choices: it’s your money. If you need the truck more than the dealer needs to sell it, then pay what they offered or move on.

There is a 2020 TRD Sport in white that I looked at in December and made an offer in April. It list for $44,844 and they came back with something around $41500 and I said no thanks. I said the most I could give would be $39 to $40000 and the stealership said no way. It is still on the lot today. The problem with the 2 Toyota dealerships near me is most of these people will pay there price. Went 250 miles away and had no problem getting $5000 off of list and got more options in the package.

Call Miki (Mickey)@ Toyota of Tampa bay. They still have a decent inventory up on their lake city location (Rountree Moore Toyota) and can transfer something in from there...

Previous dealer said 12K but my local said often they can get manager approval for more that what the computer says. He said if he can get me 15K it would get me into a crewmax 4x4 SR5 with offroad package and 38 gallon tank for just over 400 a month.

Two words of advice from a ton of trading and buying experience....
    1. Never base a purchase on what you could get in terms of a monthly payment. If you’re discussing that detail the dealership has you hooked and you might as well just buy the truck.
    2. A paid off truck in known condition is invaluable. I would keep it, sock away $400 a month for the next year or more and when you’re absolutely ready to buy, use what you put away as a down payment and put your truck up for private sale and see if you can get more on private party sale vs trade in

And I noticed on the specs page, they’re being extremely generous giving you 6 whole gallons of gas!!!!

My honest recommendation would be to keep your current truck until times are better! As I said in a previous thread if you wait until things get back to more normal and the inventory catches up, that same vehicle will be about 33-34K out the door! If you are to anxious to wait, I would though for that much money difference then here is my suggestion...

Get rid of that "pre delivery charge" of 800.00, that is totally bogus!!!!

Truck should be 39,146 out the door with all fees and taxes! They are trying to rob you there with that ridiculous fee for nothing, so tell them where they can stick their bullshit "pre delivery" fee!

I wouldn't worry, honestly. My truck that I bought in June had sat on the lot since the end of February! I did test drive it on highway, and suggest you do the same, and found it had quite the shake around 70 MPH. They fixed it no problem though and it is fine.

Just make sure they don't screw you in the finance department either!!

Get the paperwork for what theyre tacking on to your bill before accepting a monthly payment. Theyre incredibly sneaky at hiding shit and making you feel like you got a deal when you actually are being methodically bent over.

I just leased a 2020 Tundra 4x4 Limited (Red w/ black leather) from a dealer in PA (I'm in SE FL). Prices just kept moving up and up and up. Paid $500 in cash (total out of pocket) for a 36/12k lease at $435/mo including tax. Because of COVID I'm having it shipped to me so that's another $750.

However, I could not come near that deal anywhere near me in FL right now. Everybody in the auto industry is telling me that inventories are not going to meaningfully recover until Spring 2021. Personally, I have no idea. My crystal ball is broken.
